Lost a longtime friend tonight of decades because she felt it necessary after I expressed fear for my trans child here in NC to tell me her MAGA cousin sent her supplies, but she's not THAT KIND of MAGA, and I called out the white cis het privilege wrapped up in that declaration while I try to figure out where my kids won't be persecuted as heinously.
And here's where I differ-
I'm fine with that.
My ability to put people into the Not Trustworthy Box and remove myself, regardless of how long we've been in any kind of relationship, terrifies people.
I no longer trust this person.
They're into the box.
Period.
@Shelter A person who's willing to excuse those who deny the humanity of others (what is even "not that kind of MAGA?" They only kinda believe in QAnon? They're only racist but not transphobes? 🙄 ) isn't someone one could feel safe around, I think.
I hope you find a safe spot, or the climate changes in NC. Or hopefully both.
