Probably showing my age here, but I have to cast my vote for M*A*S*H

@GaryPoole Sadly sitcoms don't age well. What was the best when it was on vs years later is very different.

@GaryPoole
By a country mile, It's Blackadder, very closely followed by The Young Ones.

@GaryPoole I think that because each Blackadder series is set in a particular historical age, the show itself is ageless.

@GaryPoole

I’m with you Gary.

About the military but never glorified war. Just the contrary.

@XSGeek @GaryPoole Xennial here -

M*A*S*H is the best sitcom. It set the bar, the tone, took all of the tropes from earlier sitcoms and defined them to give sitcoms a true lexicon.

@GaryPoole Have you noticed that the best sitcoms actually have something to *say* beyond "This is funny"?

@GaryPoole
Totally with you. Funny, timeless and profoundly anti-war.

@GaryPoole A big chunk of my sense of humor was formed by watching M*A*S*H*. Some may have called allowing a 7 year-year old to watch it was bad parenting, I say it was excellent preparation for adulthood.

@UncaCrunk @GaryPoole M*A*S*H* was great the 1st 3 to 4 seasons. Beyond that it was meaningless self congratulatory drivel. I liked Hawkeye, he was suck a leftie anarchist, straining to not turn into Groucho every 5 minutes..

@Anouk Great writing and an incredible cast. It's definitely up there. @GaryPoole

@GaryPoole I think M*A*S*H also stands the test of time. Effective comedy is culturally relevant, but that relevance is often a moment. So many were funny in their time, but not funny now.

@GaryPoole

The Andy Griffith Show

C'mon, who else needs Aunt Bee right now?

@GaryPoole - Gilligan's Island is up there, as is M*A*S*H, and The Good Place, but over all, I'd say Night Court

@GaryPoole
Newhart, and specifically for how they did their last episode.

@GaryPoole

I very rarely like sitcoms, but love M*A*S*H. Blackadder is also a worthy entry.

@XSGeek @GaryPoole

Don't think I've ever seen that. I'll keep an eye out for it.

@GaryPoole Seinfeld is my favorite!
(Honorable mention to MASH, but I came to it too late and didn't watched it regularly)
