When all people are under threat, there's not much room for ego. It's better to use your energy to support other people and find the positive in their endeavors, even if you don't agree 100% with their views, than it is to always try to find a way to prove them wrong and make yourself superior. The common good is best served by union against a common threat, not by trying to grab attention and squelch other people's ideas.

If they express concern about a social media platform being run by a hacker, ask them to consider the following question:

Who better to protect a community online than someone who knows everything about how online communities are exploited?

If this MSNBC story about courts-martial is confirmed, I'm begging people - especially writers and reporters - do not fall for the Trump line that this is about Afghanistan. This is about Trump seeking revenge on the people who woudn't do things like shoot American protesters.

He fears a military coup d'état. Forcing kangaroo courts martial, where some officers are required to try other officers unjustly, will give him a good indication of which officers are loyal to him personally and which are loyal to the Constitution and military traditions.

I made the mistake of turning on NPR while going out to get groceries. The program was filled with people who didn’t vote at all espousing dumb reasons. Well you 30 something’s, as rush once sang “if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”. All of you who didn’t vote deserve the whirlwind you get. One idiot said nobody ran on universal healthcare. Perhaps not but one person ran on dismantling all healthcare you dumb bastards.
