@PaganMother I don't know if "making biscuits" is a more recent phrase, or a regional thing (five people in our house from three different regions of the US), but I had never heard it before. She very casually said the cat had been making biscuits on her, and I was like, "The cat WHAT???"

@PaganMother After my sister-in-law explained "making biscuits" to me, I started practicing Welsh by saying, "Mae'r cath yn gwneud bisgedi" (The cat is making biscuits) and wishing the cats in the house "Bisgedi hapus!" (Happy biscuits!)

The only reason I ask them to feed me to the Lake Monster is because things got boring after a few years of them refusing to sell me to the circus.

I have repeatedly begged my family to feed me to the local Lake Monster. I've even pointed out there's a biblical precedent for people getting spit back out after a while, not permanent! They refuse.

I just found the ukulele tabs for the Herman's Hermits song "Henry the Eighth".

I will have vengeance.

Y'all! I just found out Bicycle Playing Cards has a deck called the Cypher deck, and it's full of symbols and coded messages! This is so my thing! I ordered the deck.

That means I will have a new deck to tell the pirate story with soon, and I've never told the pirate story here!

@Lost_Boy_2 Some posts are getting a lot more conversation than it looks like at a glance. I saw somebody mention why it works that way a few days ago, but I don't remember the whole explanation.

Also, it's all been a little wild the past few days. But, yes, interaction happens a lot more than it may look like on the surface.

@ChillySnowgirl Yes, the vibe is so different here! I knew my anxiety was rising and I was becoming more protective about posts lately, but I didn't realize just how bad it had gotten until I came over here. I was so relaxed and felt so much safer after just one day! I have stress seizures, so "relaxed and safe" is very important for me.

@BrianHjelleVirologist Thanks for the answer! Before 2019, I knew "coronavirus" was a thing, but I knew nothing about how many there are. This has all been really interesting on one level, while absolutely terrifying in other ways.

@BrianHjelleVirologist Honest question from me, not arguing. My understanding is that COVID is short for "coronavirus disease". Does that mean there already are other covids that just got different names, or is this the first coronavirus known to cause what counts as disease?

@ChillySnowgirl That was pretty much how it worked years ago on the bird app. Turned into a heart, and suddenly people were being scolded for hitting the heart on things nobody would have thought twice about hitting the star on.

@stueytheround Yep, that was the cry! And even FB eventually put in more than just the thumbs up. I remember seeing people getting chewed out for hitting the Like button on news posts about crimes when that was the only way to acknowledge it. A neutral star just seems to work better.

Suddenly, posts that got "hearted" were seen as being liked, agreed with. The star had meant everything from, "Yes, I like and agree with this!" to, "I'm kind of bookmarking this so I can come back to it later."

Personally, I'm glad CoSo uses a star.
