Also, because I've seen a lot of people ask about the star on posts over the past few days... Fun fact! The heart on #Twitter posts only became a heart a few years ago. It used to be a star.
Many who had been on Twitter for years by then felt it was a sign of "trying to be like (insert other popular platform)". Maybe, maybe not. But platforms develop their own culture, and changing to a heart did disrupt things.
So you don't have to worry about getting your follower count up, promoting looking for followers, and your follower counts in other places won't matter much here.
CoSo had been around several years. A lot of us just didn't know about it. The last few days have been serious influx of new users and DoS atracks. It's not "new and unstable" or "hopefully going to be built up soon".
You might be surprised how much Twitter stuff just processed as "how social media works". On CoSo, you don't have to word everything with a call to action at the end just to make sure somebody will see it.
Also, follower counts don't mean a lot here. Things work different, and community means more than "people using the same service". People actually act like a community here.
New CoSoNauts coming in - Hello! I'm new, too. Only been here for a few days. I'd like to share some of what I've learned.
This is not #Twitter , which is probably why you're here. But, really... This. Is. Not. Twitter.
You can ask questions about things here. CoSoNauts are helpful. It's okay to be confused and need help. You won't be shamed for not understanding how everything works.
So, please, don't just give up and start insisting CoSo should work like something not CoSo.
Okay! Got my #NaNoWriMo word count to 11,164 today!
I know a big part of #NaNoWriMo is "turn off the inner editor", but y'all...this is some crap writing! There may be little gems to use in my short stories later. There's also the possibility that I will never want to touch this again to find them.

@FatalExit I try to stay a little ahead at first because things usually start slowing down for me as I get further into the month.
@FatalExit You've got a good start! It's been a few years since I last did NaNoWriMo, but I had done it every year for several years. Decided to jump back in this time. I should be hitting 10k later today.
@GeekWithABook Yes! The colors got my attention first! I've never really gotten how to use color that way, and I love the works of artists who can do it.
@Rupiefied2020 Happy birthday! 40 was a good year for me. Hard, but good.
I hope you get all of the good and less of the hard.
@GeekWithABook I just went and looked through some of it. I love his portrait of Nina Simone!
@ruffboi So all hobbits have second breakfast? And the two coolest hobbits in the Shire had to go on a journey with an elf and only one breakfast to save the world?
No wonder the treants didn't scare them. They had already survived too much by that point.
@ruffboi There needs to be a word for it. Surely some culture has recognized something that is like a platonic marriage where both parties are traditionally married to other people. And it's just accepted in our house that Birdie is family. I was there for y'all's wedding even though I was at the other end of the country!
@ruffboi Did folks have second breakfast in Buckland?
@Juhstin Somebody else on here has the best dog, but I can also confirm Marley is the best dog. Also, I live with the best dog.
Really, they're all the best dog. I've never been friends with a dog who wasn't. Please give Marley extra pets.
@ruffboi I didn't actually think you'd answer...but I should have known.
Oh! And because you know I've never actually finished the books... I recently found out Merry and Pippin were buried as kings. And that Pippin had eventually become the new Old Took! And it just made it that much more special to me that you've always called me the Merry to your Pippin. 💜
@GrumpyWolf I'm from the Gulf Coast. Grew up with hurricanes. Moved to the midwest, then the Great Plains. Wind, snow, more snow, more wind... Ended up at the edge of a tornado one night!
Wind can be serious. Glad you know how to handle it.
@ruffboi Okay, but do you have opinions about ukuleles? Bears? Cheese? I need to be sure I'm connecting with the right people.
Bard with a ukulele. Friend of Lake Monster. 93% stardust. Autistic. Fabulously weird.
