Grout repair results. I think I do not terribly for it being my first time. Obviously I chose too light a color, but there were only two of this grout to choose from that were in the wheelhouse, and some reviewers had indicated that it dries darker. I didn't really care about matching anyway.
Most of the places where it looks like I have grout on the tiles are scratches from scraping out the old stuff. I will never do that by hand again!
@voltronic Nice work!
I need grout repair too but then if I do that I'll want new tile. And if I get new tile I'll want to remodel the entire space. Which would include plumbing changes. And I really hate plumbing. So.
@voltronic prolly will hold
seen a shower where the tiles were touching each other (no gap for grout, for real ) without any silicon at all.
took a while before it failed (like 8-10yrs iirc) 😆
@voltronic looks great! i had a similar job several years ago, dremmel grout remover bit was a lifesaver. I also only did grout and it's held up really well, much better than whatever the builder did anyway.
@Loffreni
Yeah if I had a Dremel I would have used it. The other option was the Milwaukee M12 FUEL oscillating tool, since I already have other tools in that series. But that would have added $100 to the cost of the project, and I was trying to keep things as cheap as possible.
@voltronic nice job 👍
@voltronic It looks great! It will blend in better with time. Grout does tend to dry darker.
@voltronic I think it came out pretty well.
Also I'm aware that caulking is traditionally used at changes of plane to allow for movement, but the builder grouted everything and I'm trying to save money. So instead of spending $15 on the quart of premixed epoxy grout and then another $15 on mold resistant silicone caulk, I just did the grout everywhere. Hopefully it holds up.
