Christians like to say "God is love." What this all too often means is that a lot of very unloving things that are ostensibly religiously motivated get justified by saying that, since God is in them, they are "really" loving.

If you turned it around and said "Love is god," meaning that you would only regard those things as holy which you could actually discern motivations of love and compassion in, the slogan would suddenly become a lot less appealing to the same people.

I was frying an egg, and the yolk exploded with a pop, flinging a bit of egg out of the pan, at the same time someone on the show I was listening to made a boom noise with their mouth, and it was awesome.

Someone on Mastodon (@[email protected]) reminded me seed banks can be a good source of free plants as well. Besides the links they gave, I also have a local seed bank through my library, other cities may have a similar program.

My collection is still mostly dormant, but I brought a few bits of rhizome indoors last fall, in case my plants didn't like it outside during winter. This Judith Hindle clone (a popular Sarracenia hybrid) is finally starting to show some color, it's currently the most colorful leaf in my pitcher plants, so I am cheered after watching all my pretty plants die back so much last year.

My generation (now over half a century old) was supposed to be the forward-looking, progressive cohort that was going to correct the mistakes of the past. So, for that matter, was the generation before us, the 'Boomers.'

Well, now look at us.

We can't keep putting our faith in the supposedly more advanced younger generation as long as this tendency to descend into selfishness after the age of 30 remains constant.

Joe's bro came by, and I slipped into the planned conversation perfectly. He was actually interested when I was discussing knowing your own values and beliefs, I pointed out to him that regret means we are not acting in our true nature, and I like to live with few regrets. He started talking about his obsessions, and I started using the journal page to highlight how to regain our energy through actionable plans, and knowing what we can control. Went better than I thought it would. Seeds planted.

Last year I got these, but they weren't doing well outside, so I dug them up and brought them indoors, where they have battled mildew and spider mites all winter. A few survived, barely. So, I try again. Because seriously, I love dandelions. I even wrote a poem to one, on the blog post if you feel inclined. And pink! Going to make sure to have a pot indoors that is in an area where they can't catch anything.
