I had to promise my kid I would keep playing my sim until I was ready for her birthday, so she could marry the dude with the cool glasses tomorrow, or she wouldn't go to bed.

Yay, yarrow is in bloom :). This is one of my favorite plants in my seedbombing garden. Attracts predatory wasps, repels mosquitos, great for compost, stops bleeding, good in salads, and a ton of other benefits.

I'm kinda jealous of you just for knowing the dude who gets to go.

I hear pitcher plants do better wintering outdoors, but those only have the tiniest of new pitchers promising to grow soon. Meanwhile, I took a bit off of one of them to enjoy inside during their dormancy (Judith Hindle cultivar), and the new leaves she's grown are shooting up quickly. The one bland leaf she managed to grow during the winter is now showing colors that rival those in fall. I think I'll try an indoor semi-dormancy next year, at least on a few.

Sweet Goddess of Nightfall, I just used the last of the coffee creamer and I can't get any more for daaaaays, this is too much, I might not survive.

If I am not mistaken, the whole reason that this country was founded was to get out from under kings who were above the law and forcing their religion on us.

OMGS! I found the photo of a photo that was lost of my fav Halloween costume ever, from when my 20 year old was like, 6. It was at a school event, someone took the photo with an actual Polaroid camera, we were impressed with how retro it was.

First official harvest of the year, if I don't count the backyard weed chowders. Mizuna, a form of good ol' Brassica rapa.

Podcast mentioned these citizen science sites, where you help scientists with their projects. I thought I'd take a look for homeschooling, they seem pretty cool. The Zooniverse one is supposed to have things where you can help at home on your computer, but I'm still lost in a ton of projects I found for my area on the other site. Figured I'd share in case anyone else out there wistfully wonders "what if I had taken botany instead?" or the like.

The pitcher about to bloom is named Celia, because she was a weed in moss I bought, and when young her pitchers looked like a Tequilia Sunrise (remember Celia on the show Weeds?) Unfortunately, I clumsily knocked off the crown, the pitchers grew back but the color wasn't as good. However, they showed me the promise of interesting shape in maturity. I just went to pull off a mushy stem, and this little bit came out, just perfect for me to make a backup plant inside! She gives gifts today!

Pink oyster mushrooms. The brown ones had kind of a spicy note, I don't know if it is their normal flavor or if that was due to wet bubble fungus, which started coming up in their box. The pink ones didn't have that spicy note. They had better color when they were smaller, I'm sure it's typical, but some of the color fading might be due to a plant light going out a couple of days into their growth. Now I'm off to post these on Insta so I can get some kiddos a free box for their school.

Back to cleaning out my folder of over 2,000 unsorted photos. I was so mad at this little dude last year for hurting my Meyer lemon, but being too pretty to hate.

*gasp* @fernfren is that a Sarracenia flower bud? I went to pick the pearlite out (my little bog flooded in the rain last night) and this seems more bulbous than the base of a young leaf? Am I about to get my first flower, or am I just being overly excitable again?
