@spacesloth When I was younger, I found purple string lights or a purple lava lamp simulated a close to dawn effect. I used that for years to help lull me into a hopeful sleep.
Only found out about delayed sleep phase disorder a few years ago, and I'm not sure why nobody ever told me about it sooner, because that's been my entire life.

@spacesloth I'll look into it. I've been prescribed dozens of sleeping pills over the decades, and all any of them ever did was keep me from waking up when I finally did sleep... And then feel like shit all day after. I am naturally a deep sleeper already, so I don't need something to keep me asleep. I can VERY easily naturally fall asleep once the sun starts coming up though... Just not before.

@spacesloth Any time I hear someone say "when my melatonin kicks in" I think they're full of shit. I've taken 120 mg before, and nothing.

@spacesloth I took 60 mg quick dissolve tablet under my tongue an hour or so ago. I have delayed sleep phase disorder, so nothing ever really works for me. My wife is out like a light with 4 mg and I think it's psychosomatic.

FUN FACT: I'm apparently completely immune to melatonin.

@GlytchMeister I feel the same way. Their IT has it set to reset default browser even if I change it... It's infuriating.

@kel @th3j35t3r afaik, the word peek-a-boo actually derived from that slur... Something about hunting down escaped slaves in the dark of night. Which makes the phrase "peek-a-boo, I see you" that much more bothersome when spoken in a creepy southern accent.
