FUN FACT: I'm apparently completely immune to melatonin.
@redenigma Maybe I make too much then? Who knows. I'm gonna blame my sodium deficiency for everything though
@theunabeefer it's not the panacea it's sold as. most 'natural products' aren't. they might work for a certain number of people, but not everyone.
another weird one is St.John's wort. it's sold as an aid to lift depression, but it can make some people suicidal or extremely angry (it's also highly toxic to livestock so i don't trust it on that merit)
all parts of elderberry are toxic, but the COOKED berries. you need to know what you actually are taking
@theunabeefer me, too 😢
@singlemaltgirl you had me at scotch lover!
@theunabeefer if your body makes enough on it's own, taking more melatonin will actually keep you from falling asleep. there's a fairly fine line between what causes drowsiness & what is too much. i used to have a friend that was a neuroscientist with a specialty in sleep disorders & he was concerned too many people were taking too much melatonin. he suggested i use valarian root instead (this was after my car accident & i was sleeping about 15 minutes out of 24 hours, non-contiguously)
