I'm adding to the column with all the stuff in it. What a great idea for helping bolster each other as we work!

There's something strangely cathartic about watching all of the big accounts on the bird site panic as their regular users disappear and toxic bots begin to fill up their mentions

Continuing to see lots of new faces here, which is awesome! Did you know there's a user guide? You can check it out here: counter.social/userguide.pdf

New here? Slightly lost? Crack open the manual and settle in: counter.social/userguide.pdf

I'm so happy seeing all the new faces here. Welcome!

@misterfive For that particular program, for example, you can use the images for financial gain if you are "an individual or an entity with less than 1 million United States dollars in annual revenue" provided you don't use them for blockchain/NFTs and that you attribute them back to the site.

@misterfive each of the AI generation programs has their own terms of use governing how they can be used. Here's one example: craiyon.com/terms

(based on a true story, I'm told)

Very strange that I couldn't get that all in one post. It was well under the character count!

"What about the first person to own it?" the squatter asked. "How'd they get it?"

"They fought for it," the landowner snapped.

"Perfect!" the squatter said. "We'll fight you for it!"

A landowner approached some squatters, yelling, "This is my land!".

One of the squatters looked at him and said, "Oh? How'd you get it?"

"Why, I bought it!" the landowner said. "Just like the owner before me did."

I'm having trouble posting longer content at the moment, so this will be a brief story in several parts

@corlin I personally believe the whole "investing in space tourist/space mining" is still a little premature (check back in a decade or two, maybe?). I'm inclined to believe the "next big think" will involve AI, but it's hard to be sure these days.

@DevinY1 I'm not sure, but there's a solid attempt at analytics being done here: fivethirtyeight.com/

I'm fascinated by how "AI writing" is developing these days. They're getting better all the time, and while the writer in me isn't afraid of being replaced by the algorithm, it's certainly staring, transfixed, at the progress being made.

This may be old hat at this point, but it still amused me. There's a "Viral Post Generator" going around to make "viral LinkedIn posts." The output? Well...here's my swing at it. (Naturally, the engagement is completely fabricated by the generator.)

You can play around with it yourself here: viralpostgenerator.com/

TIL "Office Space" came out in 1999, and references to that movie will not necessarily resonate with younger staff. Because they were toddlers at the time.

In other news, I'm going to go lay down and ponder the pitiless, inexorable march of time for a while.

The moon is full,
though hearts are empty
A cloudless sky,
seen through storms of tears
A song, remembered,
blossoms through the sorrows
A gentle touch,
which banishes your fears
