So, I know everyone's shit is emotional right now (by which I mean ppl in the US). Mine very much included.

But I'm going to try to enjoy Independence day, in the hope that as a nation we are going to beat back the fascist threat posed by the right wing. There is definitely nothing to be gained by defeatism--we have to "keep hope alive", as Jesse Jackson once said.

This morning my DW opened one of our kitchen cabinets and... the door came off in her hand. The hinge failed.

They're ~30 years old at this point, and heavy-ass particleboard.

I will replace the hinge, but damn do I want new kitchen cabinets. And countertops. And a new sink, and...

Freaky. The error only occurs if my working directory is a specified UNC. If I map a drive to the very same place and make my current working directory that drive letter, then it works just fine.

Very non-intuitive. Seems like it's got to be a bug in git, tho probably so obscure nobody else is going to care.

To my way of thinking, there are always going to be monied interests favoring the status quo, but the dems have generally done what they can when they are in power. Individual politicians have been corrupt, sure (Sinema comes right to mind). But I don't see any puppet strings controlled by a mastermind, telling e.g., Lieberman to oppose a public option.

@AskTheDevil are you suggesting Biden would prefer to have a democracy-destroying SCOTUS as a boogeyman?
