recently finished "This is Minuteman two-three... Go!" by Wayne Chasson. An autobiographic stories of the decorated helicopter pilot. Fascinating first-hand account of the events, immersive experience. Honest, funny, moving, heartbreaking. All in one.
I'm so glad I had this chance to walk in the author's combat boots through his stories. Thank you for your service, Mr. Chasson!

most histories are tough like that. but one thing is to show things from your country perspective, another thing is to falsify and deny facts.
I actually enjoy and seek reading history books from different countries. The first book I ever bought in English language was the Little History of the World. and omg, it is such good way to broaden one's view of the world! it's super interesting!

yeah, there is a lot of things they still deny in russia. the major problem, as many think (including me) is not that they did it at some point, but that they deny it or believe they had and still have the right to do it over and over again. admitting mistakes and wrongdoings are critical first step without which the change will never come

ah, I did not make it on time to take a screenshot. but I remember: someone assigned an extra book to Mike Pompeo page on Goodreads, the book had a masculine male body on the front & was called something like "gay erotics" 😂

@Alt_Human
not sure about "did the most". we definitely had the highest cost in human lives. but that cost was not because of Germans, it was due to the soviet government using people as cannon fodder. there is an infamous saying "the [derogatory term for women] will give birth to more"
we can see now that little has changed for russia

How is that when people say "soviet army" they mean "russians". how about the fact that almost 40% of the soviet red army consisted of Ukrainians?

how about my grandparents who fought in red army? does not count or what? I'm so angry for this appropriation... One of my grandfathers was in the nazi camp, he was ethnic Ukrainian, a regular POW of the nazis. for escaping, ussr sent him to the ussr camp later.

Expeditionary Force. Columbus Day by Craig Alanson

Nice, funny, light military sci-fi. Loved realistic representation of Earth invasion. Loved military aspects.
The vibe is similar to Bobbyverse, but plots are very different.

Recommend for light reading.

@Vonzales
I remember he claimed that he would solve Israeli-Palestine issue. "so easy to do! I'll do it as a president" lmao

being greatest does not mean ideal, and does not mean "have nothing to improve, change, overcome"
in fact, it means the opposite - being the greatest means a lot of responsibility before your own people and the world as well.
great picture, the delivery of the message is stunning

@beer
oh, absolutely! I love Belgian and sour. and my husband is an IPA guy. the diversity is everything ❤️

@beer now I need to bring my husband to try it
For me all IPAs are just bitter beer causing headache 😂

@cassandra17lina
Can confirm. When I was in school, russian literature was dominant in our foreign literature classes. I diligently read all of it. Can't say I hated it but I definitely did not like it. After graduation I never came back to it. I was more interested in classics from other countries such as USA, Britain, Germany etc.

@fpkthree oh, nice! thanks for the tip! it's been a while since I looked for a job and was mostly using linkedin and indeed

@Iskios
well, for the positions I was checking out they won't - cause I don't have experience and therefore they won't take me. whatever. it's their loss. for every job I had - I had fundamentals and zero experience, yet I was the top performer every time.

@KodoAndSangha
oh, I do apply to the positions even when I don't meet all the requirements. it just I'm puzzled how adding this tag to a position with expectation of significant experience can improve their pool of candidates (unless that experience thing is total bullshit)

hmmm.. unless it's an anchor for future negotiations
