@corlin @th3j35t3r If I want to pass along a link to an article from the NYT 's account, and make a comment about it, that starts the conversation. I'm not engaging in a conversation behind the NYT's back.
@FrankCannon @kel @th3j35t3r I do not necessarily want to recreate "the Twitter experience" (meaing, the culture), but I do like the functionality and find CoSo and Masto awkward and expect I"m not the only one.
@lenaoflune @th3j35t3r Unclear what you mean by this. Can you explain? How does a QT do that?
@LnzyHou I really don't think adding user functionality would recreate the culture of Twitter, it would just make CoSo (and/or Masto) easier to use.
@kel @th3j35t3r Then the two are now in separate posts. And I have to engage in multiple clicks to understand the reference in the second post back to the first one.
@kel @th3j35t3r Someone makes a post that includes a cool article that's linked. You want to pass it along to your followers and add a comment. What do you do?
@th3j35t3r I'm curious what others might think of that idea?
On another note, @th3j35t3r, if you really want this place to be the best alternative for Twitter and entice users to leave there, you should figure out how to add a feature that's equivalent to the quote-tweet. It would def improve the UX, and you might find tweeters, ahem, flocking here.
@th3j35t3r People's brains naturally want to extrapolate trends to extremes. It's logical. What causes us to moderate ourselves, keeps us veering back toward the middle instead of the extremes, is a conscience, sympathy and empathy. I'm sure they're working on it but, for now, AI lacks those qualities.
@Bix Knew a guy who liked to vacation in Hawaii, so he bought a small shop there. Debt financed almost 100% of it. Shop didn't make much money, but voila, all of his travel, hotel and meals were deductible for his 2 trips/year there.
@Bix There's a simple lesson here: Start or buy a business. Just make sure you overcome the "business vs hobby" threshhold so your expenses are deductible. Start it somewhere to you like to vacation.
@LauraWalkerKC Biden pre-empting the 1st Anniversay of Russia's invasion of Ukraine to flood the news and social media with his visit and his promise of support is a stunning public relations coup. It might be the most powerful political move of his entire Presidency.

@Bix Many of the craziest stories I have and can never share with anyone involve representing people in family court matters. Unlike many corporate lawyers, when my name comes up and I'm appointed to represent someone, I do it myself rather than hand it off. I've done several. I had a Dad on a TPR case that went all the way to trial. Two full days. Truly worthy of a book or a movie. But it's all under seal, bc minors involved.
@th3j35t3r No one could have seen it coming. /s

@Bix This is classic Russian propaganda technique -- everyone who doesn't support Putin strongly enough is a pedo. Seriously, it's a thing.
@ashertheowl But yes, Twitter, FB and IG were apparently all experiencing issues which tells you it might be something systemic, like part of the Internet grid that was congested or down.
@ashertheowl The limits, per Twitter, are 500 dms and 2400 tweets / day.
