Erasure - The Two Ring Circus 1987
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
Don’t know what happened to my original copy of The Circus, but I still have the companion album, complete with chewed corner when my puppy took an interest in my collection.
Not quite as slick as The Innocents, but an electronic masterpiece nonetheless.
@TheAbbotTrithemius
Stuart Adamson left after The Absolute Game, forming #BigCountry and the rest is history
@dauphin87
It’s timeless 😍
Electric Light Orchestra - Eldorado 1974
#MicksVinyl #My70s #CoSoMusic
While Glam-Rock was at its height, 12 year old me was getting lost in my first concept album.
Eldorado is a symphony; it even says it on the cover. It is a brilliant collection of songs about a character who dreams of fantasy worlds as a way of escaping his boring, ordinary life.
The album achieves that very thing, taking you on that journey with Lynne’s amazingly creative music.
One of my all-time fave albums.
The Skids - Fanfare 1982
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
For when you don’t have time to listen to all the albums.
The very best of Scottish post-punk.
@stueytheround Still sounds as fresh today
Erasure - The Innocents 1988
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
Surely one of the best pop albums of the 80’s… no, ever… surely
The Jam - Sound Affects 1980
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
Little did we know at the time, but Weller’s progression away from 70’s mod appreciation into jazz-funk was already underway.
Foxton & Buckler couldn’t really play Style Council stuff, and this was the last great album with F&B up front and centre. before the horns and keyboards started taking over.
Not quite the end of the era, more the herald of a false dawn for a new Jam style.

👋 I’m here, but not as often as I used to be
@ATXJane
Original copy, with barely a crackle. Sounds every bit as good today 🧡
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours 1977
#MicksVinyl #My70s #CoSoMusic
Is it even a record collection if it doesn’t have this?
Depeche Mode - Leave In Silence (Longer) 12” 1982
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
One of my favourite DM tracks, but I have a very bittersweet love of this song.
This was a very underrated breakup song that really hit a nerve and came out at a very dark time in my life.
It stands the test of time, much like every other track on ‘A Broken Frame’.
Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra 1982
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
Not a bad track on this, and still in great condition after 42 years
Electric Light Orchestra - On The Third Day 1973
#MicksVinyl #My70s #CoSoMusic
Despite some great tracks (Roll Over Beethoven, 10538 Overture, Kuiama) the first two ELO albums were heavy going, and a little grim tbh.
For me, the ELO era really started with this record. It wasn’t my first ELO purchase (Eldorado in ‘74 has that distinction) but it began a run of fantastic albums that were, and still are, regulars on my turntable.
Simon and Garfunkel- Bridge Over Troubled Water 1970
#MicksVinyl #My70s #CoSoMusic
Another musical great I had the privilege of seeing in Berlin
A great memory, sitting on the grass steps of the Waldbühne sipping cold beer on a warm summer night
A proper classic
Talk Talk - The Party’s Over 1982
#MicksVinyl #My80s #CoSoMusic
One of the most underrated bands ever.
First heard Mark Hollis’ brilliant voice belting out ‘Today’ through the crackles of Radio Luxembourg when I was doing an army course in Bünde, W. Germany.
Such a sad loss when he died in 2019.
@EdgeOErin
Surely one of them’s orange… surely? 🤔
Heaven 17 - Penthouse And Pavement 1981
#MicksVinyl #CoSoMusic #My80s
When the Human League split we got two great bands out of it.
My original copy, still playing as well as ever.
Came 2nd to a civilian middle age driving instructor in 1985 UK Land Forces Young Driver of The Year Competition & still irked | DUFC & Indy Scotland | Fickle
