@Kurtroedeger

My condolences. I shall drink a mix of Congo Kivu + Indian Monsooned Malabar (with Coffee Tamer) in your honor.

Waking up with a nice, bland cup of Buc-ee's House Blend. Trying not to upset the universal balance of whatever I've got going right now after yesterday's emotional fiasco.

Having Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew coffee with Sweet Cream today. Not bad. Not as sour as Starbucks' standard fare. Doesn't live up to the hype of "sweet without sweetener," though. Still, drinkable.

Dunkin' coffee has arrived. It's a SigLt MD Orig CocoaMoc.

Whatever that is. I'm just going to drink it, not analyze it.

Mrs. Capt. has interfered with your regularly scheduled coffee testing today. She's gone out and bought me some Dunkin' coffee and a donut of some sort. Not sure what, since both are still in transit.

I won't be doing any coffee reviews this morning. Just doesn't seem right. Sorry.

Playing With Light Roast Coffees, Final Day: Mixing Indian Monsooned Malabar and Congo Kivu. Unfortunately, I had to drag out the Coffee Tamer due to a gastric problem with yesterday's mix.

That said, the flavors of these two blend quite nicely. A good chocolate taste comes through, with the sum being a bit stronger than the original light roasts. I'd lend this backbone to the strength of the Malabar. The combo with the Congo Kivu is quite a nice drink indeed.

Playing With Light Roast Coffees, Day 2: mixing Brazil Fazenda Santa Luzia and Congo Kivu.

RE: Caffeine Rush

Conclusion: WOW. Is MY heart THUMPING.

Note: there will only be three days of Playing With Light Roast Coffees, since I tossed one of the boxes (the one that tasted like mud) into the trash. Sorry.

Playing With Light Roast Coffees, Day 2: mixing Brazil Fazenda Santa Luzia and Congo Kivu. The resulting mixture maintains the consistency of a light roast, while the flavors of the two really don't mingle very well. I should have used Coffee Tamer on this, since it's giving me a lot of gas.

Brazil Fazenda Santa Luzia + Indian Monsooned Malabar: the whole exceeds the sum of its parts. Mixing these two light roasts yields something with a medium taste and texture on the palate, despite my attempt to screw it up by putting in one packet too many of Equal. There's a nice toasty element in the mix, which is smooth and balanced overall. Not a bad way to start the coffee alchemy.

Playing With Light Roast Coffees: In an attempt to get rid of all of the boxes I'm left with after the reviews, I'm trying a new experiment: mixing the brews in the same cup. Today's mix is Brazil Fazenda Santa Luzia + Indian Monsooned Malabar. I think I put too much Equal into the cup, but I'm going to try the review anyway. Watch this space.

In desperate need of a grocery trip that *doesn't* involve Sam's or Costco. That's why today's breakfast is Crab Cakes and Buc-ee's coffee (on the normal setting, so as not to interfere with the crab cake proteins).

Another cup of Buc-ee's House Blend on the "strong" setting this morning. As I finish it, I realize I should have used Coffee Tamer. *burp*

Tried the "Strong" setting on my Keuring machine on the Buc-ee's House Blend coffee. It definitely made a difference - what was a featureless coffee developed a character. Good, strong caramel notes and a caffeine burst that weren't there before. Not bad at all.

Playing With Light Roast Coffee Again:

Brewed up a cup of Malabar Monsoon on the "Strong" setting of the Keurig machine. Got what I asked for - a strong-tasting cup of coffee. Here's hoping the caffeine rush that follows is just as strong, since I woke up woozy this morning.

Brazil Fazenda Santa Luzia coffee and Teriyaki Elk Jerky - Breakfast of champions. That, plus a shoebox and a half of prescription pills.

Being told by @USAPatriot that Alabama residents may lay hands upon Buc-ee's House Blend as well.
