More details on the Texas shooter Mauricio Garcia.

There should not be a paywall on this:

His last post on the website is something akin to a manifesto. I'm not going to post it.

Bottom line from reading all of his recent posts:

He wanted to kill and he needed his kill count to be high enough so that fellow shitposters would make memes commemorating his evil deed.

My description should tell you lot about his radicalization process. It's weird the Times didn't address it.

His "analysis" of the recent Nashville elementary school shooting provides a bunch of clues - the slang, the themes, the misogyny, the focus on post death fame, all of it is there. You could just as easily be seeing this on 4chan, discord, or twitch.

@jjmacnab
I'm not sure what's worse.
The fact that he did it, or the fact that with all of this open hatred, and an obvious desire, he had the *opportunity* to do it. ๐Ÿ˜ข

@stueytheround @jjmacnab

I'm more disgusted that he "might" be a white supremacist, when he's clearly completely utterly and unredeemably a fucking white supremacist.

@stueytheround @jjmacnab I mean WTF are we really afraid of painting white supremacists as capable of this kind of atrocity?

@sfleetucker @stueytheround @jjmacnab

Greg Abbot certainly is. He can't openly condemn white supremacy or he loses a chunk of his base.

@jjmacnab I need a word that means โ€œsimultaneously sickened and angry and horrified and sad.โ€

@jjmacnab Again, those of us who are Latin know well the racism embedded in our culture. You don't see too many "Indios" on Mexican telenovelas.

@jjmacnab His intentions were there for all to see on his body and online. Hard to keep up when there are likely thousands of such individuals. I guess the trick is to figure out which one is an impending mass shooter.

@jjmacnab he also references multiple comments from others saying he seemed like the type to โ€œgo postalโ€. His radicalization didnโ€™t happen in a vacuum and this blog is a fascinating look at the complexities of race, especially whiteness, and racial relations in the US.

@jjmacnab

This is surprisingly sophisticated for a neo-Nazi and steeped in transgressive art theory and media studies. He name-checks the idea of "spectacle" and Valerie Solanas who wrote the SCUM manifesto which believed in destroying government, the money system and eliminating all men as biological aberrations and shot Andy Warhol as an act of social protest (he survived).

What a weak, pathetic, pompous, insecure, self-congratulatory, desperate for approval, cult fanatic coward.

@jjmacnab Weird. Like out of character or from a broader perspective?
