I'm sorry to report that I've reached the portion of my current book project where a lot of people are going to die. I don't really enjoy killing off characters, despite doing it ALL THE TIME according to my readers. The sad truth of it is that in a realistic setting, being a superhero is incredibly dangerous and it is their privilege to die with their (pixie) boots on.

Hey there, all you cool new ! I'm Ian: author, meme aficionado, caffeine enthusiast, and shiftless layabout. I know it can be overwhelming so here are a few tags specifically for the :

Went over 20k words in Extinction Event yesterday, and Shit Just Got Real. The war for the world has begun in earnest.

I'm nearly up to 10k words on my Extinction Event. Satisfied with progress so far.

Up next in the , my supervillains are going to be attacked by non-powered German special forces ahead of the heroes' arrival. A bloodbath will ensue, followed by a run-and-gun highway chase. This is a set piece that would be in the movie trailer if this book ever got made into a movie.

I'm pretty sure I wrote like 1500 words at work today and emailed them to myself to add to the tonight.

Been kind of noodling on a short fight scene in my today. It's short because of the three heroes, one is bulletproof, one heals from grievous harm in seconds, and the other can travel along walls and ceilings. The bad guys are dudes with guns, and they're way outclassed.

Just finished the next draft of Roast Wyvern and Other Recipes, clocking in at a tidy 104k words (for non-writers, that makes it a medium girthy doorstop of a novel). Next it goes off to my primary editor for spit and polish and telling me everything I did wrong and have to fix.

Two-thirds done with the next round of revisions on Roast Wyvern. Still torn about the ultimate fate of this one. Do I send it out to agents or do I keep this one under my own imprint? Decisions, decisions. Anyway, good night, , wherever you are!

Well, I got through edits of the first third of my tonight. About another 65k words to go. Then proofreading. Then I have to decide whether to submit it or just publish it myself. Decisions, decisions. In the meantime, good night, , wherever you are, and always

Chapter 9 of the and the action shifts to Paris, where the heroes pick up the next to last member of their team.

Chapter 4 is done. Time to move the action halfway around the world to Egypt.

Ok, , I need your help. For my current book , I need to set a superhero headquarters (think the size of a small community college campus with some surrounding open space) in the immediate Dallas/Ft Worth area. Where should I put it?

Ch 2 of the is done and onward to Ch 3. I'm doing my darnedest to make this one the manhunt/political thriller I've been wanting to write for a long time.

Onto Chapter Two in the new book. This one is a cavalcade of old friends...and old enemies. Anyway, good night, , wherever you are!

First line of the new book project:

Tafsut had been invisible her entire life.

Good night, , wherever you are!

Finishing the plotting on a book is almost as good a feeling as finishing the text. Tonight, I begin JCU book 25: POSSE.
