halloween approaches
i'm reading an excellent text on
the Dark Goddess,
written by 2 women, Jungian analysts, and 🇨🇦 too‼️
"the words positive and negative do not ultimately apply. They become judgmental words.
the Goddess who gives life is the Goddess who takes life away.
no sentimentality.
In feminine thinking, we hold the paradox beyond the contradictions.
She is the flux of life in which creation gives place to destruction,
destruction in service to life gives place to creation."
Dakinis are messengers of truth and spaciousness, and are said to preside over the funeral of self-deception.
They are ambivalent, sometimes helping and sometimes harming humans, to caution practitioners to avoid dualities.
they are related to energy in all its manifestations.
Here, the energy of poisonous emotions, or kleshas, is changed into the radiant energy of enlightened consciousness,
or gnosis (jnana), which produces rigpa (non-dual awareness).
@holon42 On a tangent, is that a frog page holder?
it's my pet "frog", who just happened to be nearby when i was taking the photos and offered to help☺️

And from Willow Wiki:
Daikinis or Tall Folk are people that generally grow to 5-7 feet in height. Daikinis are said to come after other peoples like the Nelwyns or the Brownies. Nonetheless they consider themselves lords of the earth and populate many regions of the Mother World. They have developed lore and science, such as mathematics, which are mostly unknown by the Nelwyns. The Nelwyns regard them as giants.
interesting word similarity. do they have similar roles?
@holon42
I don't think they do. I just remembered the use of the similar sounding word from the movie Willow and hit google...
ah, language is interesting. i wonder if the myth spread and altered as it travelled.
@holon42 On my reading list now. Good morning ☀️
good morning 🙏🏻
i read this book back when it came out, 1996,
and came across it on my bookshelf while looking 👀 for the source of the artwork that inspired my embroidery of the dakini many years ago.
if that's not synchronicity👀
the meaning has returned with energies unexpected ✌🏾
wow.
haven't found the source artwork yet, but that's okay 🤷🏻♂️
@holon42 Fascinating, thanks for sharing. Your synchronicity will add to my reading journey
Dakini' in Sanskrit and 'Khandro/ Khandroma' in Tibetan is the most revered manifestation of the feminine principle in Tibetan Buddhism.
'sky dweller' or 'sky dancer.' They represent both humanity and divinity in the feminine form. Dakini is the female embodiment of enlightenment.
The Dakini carries a staff, called a khaṭvāṅga,
skull-topped Tantric staff, which represents her masculine energy being fully on board and integrated,
the dakini's inner consort, her internal male partner.
