@Bix I wouldn't put it past these asshats to be able to reinterpret anything but it seems like a stretch for two reasons: it's a right directly granted by 14A and there's no way to interpret it to apply only to those born of immigrant parents or some such fuckery.

@Astartiel @DCliffo it won't be "the left". It will be every single person who can't take it anymore and is willing to put their body on the field.

Amsterdam "Jew hunt"

Early on Friday morning, Israel’s Foreign Ministry advised all Israeli citizens not to leave their hotels as it worked with local authorities to ensure their safety

@Razdawg22 they can only ever convince him to do things that will benefit him directly or in the near term. Very few of those things ever overlap with "good" for other people.

@POOetryma @Tee_Lynn @Astartiel although I think the GOP falling hook, line, and sinker for MAGA orthodoxy and Qanon craziness makes them susceptible to control by oligarchs like Thiel and Musk and manipulation of course by other totalitarians like Putin. Those tech bros are hardcore libertarians and hadn't yet found away to bring about their libertarian wet dream within the current systems. So they will happily try to burn it all to the ground to set up their fictional level playing field.

@MakerWerks no doubt. I still have about 12 years and some inheritances but fuck if I know what happens after that.

@Astartiel I see you and raise you the horrifying prospect that it will be stunted for much longer. The end of the Trump (or Vance) administration may not even be the beginning of the end for Trumpism.

From the looks of my retirement and crypto portfolios (much smaller than traditional assets), one could easily surmise that the financial community is very happy with Trump. This is especially true of crypto, where the entire ethos is centered on unregulated speculation (even though it started with laudable goals) and clear communication from a Trump admin that he will open things up.

Tradfi is different. The #1 desirable is stability. Wall St would've flown under a Harris win as well.

@EdgeOErin if you'd like to have a serious discussion about Gaza, I'm actually fine with it. I've found the level of knowledge and willingness to engage on CoSo to be refreshing. I can even give you my background so you can judge my inherent biases. I have a deep autodidactic familiarity with the region and the decades long conflict. But I'd understand if now is not the time...

@EdgeOErin I'm sorry but you're speaking to the wrong person about Gaza. I detest Bibi (another felon trying to save his ass) and I hope they vote him out ASAP but we were always going to provide virtually unequivocal support no matter who was in charge. Biden was trying to walk a fine line during an election year but when a truly (self-identifying) genocidal regime brutally attacks a nation that is our most valuable partner in the ME, proportionality and "ceasefire" are meaningless.

@EdgeOErin fixing things damn it! We were moving in the right direction. More jobs, higher wages, public-private investment, re-engaging with allies, more energy, pandemic correction, post-pandemic inflation reduction, more consumer protections, negotiated drug prices. People just don't understand that there was no way to snap fingers and bring the cost of goods and services down when the entire world was in shock and corporations cynically took advantage of the crisis.

@GNious @th3j35t3r obviously the number one priority is doing as much as possible to prevent anyone, especially govt entities, from obtaining info that results in the identification of the user. I don't know which technologies currently provide the most effective protection against info leakage, in the broadest sense, e.g., analyzing network patterns via ML to identify servers, etc. I guess the starting point is to see what threat models are addressed by existing solutions and improve them.

@Bix in addition, why does she think that Trump wouldn't go after them anyway?

@GNious that's a great idea! There are many techniques that organizations under Five Eyes and Nine Eyes jurisdictions, e.g. VPNs, use to make it nearly impossible to comply with any requests for data, e.g. IP logs, etc. If you're not already familiar, you might want to ask @th3j35t3r about how he keeps us secure and inscrutable.

Unfortunately they might just ask Google and Apple to remove it from their stores. If they don't, the states will probably have Trump's DOJ on their side.

@weirdfizz it occurs to me that if many people sent their ballots in without checking the final status, DeJoy could have just had them "black holed". All they would need is a few swing states or maybe even just PA. I'm betting that the Trump campaign and GOP think we won't investigate because of the reverse psychological effect from 2020. We need investigations FAST.

@JV3MJD and subsequently, anyone he doesn't like or he thinks wronged him. I wonder how long until Musk and RFK Jr cry uncle!

@Bix does she believe that *all* the cases against Trump were politically motivated?

@REDonaldAuthor Trump was created in the crucible of reality TV and social media...stranger things have happened. The only problem is that Thiel in particular would have had to have turned several decades ago because he's always been an ultra libertarian. His protege Musk has diligently followed in his footsteps.
