Bookbinding livestream tomorrow, over on my Instagram! 1pm-2pm Pacific, Saturday 12/23. Come by and say hi! Https://www.instagram.com/theb

YES THIS: "Liberal women should not marry Republican men" - lyz.substack.com/p/no-liberal-

I would like to copy-paste-quote pretty much the entire thing, so I'll just say: read it.

@Agatha Oh man! Brutal! And thanks for the kind words. My fingers are crossed.

Followup: yes, I'm chronically ill - but only one item on the list had anything to do with that cluster of issues. The rest are like, "yeah, your ankle is clicking and you've got some soft tissue strain, time for PT" and "maybe you have sciatica, have the PT work on this too."

Saw my GP this morning and damn, being 45 seems to mean having a little list of things to bring up "while I'm here." Like, none of them have been bad enough to warrant a visit, but I had to see her anyway (to get an annual test one of my meds requires). So now I have a new little list - of things to do, ranging from setting up lab testing to getting physical therapy (for TWO THINGS FFS). I know I am lucky to have good health insurance and a great GP. And also, WTF, body?

Just finished reading this: lyz.substack.com/p/where-does-

It made me think about how when I get angry, it is so often a sudden firestorm of rage, even when I know it's disproportionate to what set me off. There are subjects I avoid like the plague because I know I will howl like a wolf and set everything on fire. I'm not a woman (I'm nonbinary), but I was raised as one and am perceived (and therefore generally treated) as one. This really resonated.

@walterbays I've been enjoying Bodies on Netflix. It takes place in four time lines/periods, but even the ones in the past (1890, 1941) are pleasantly egalitarian. The entire focus of the story is the central mystery, and which characters are women has no bearing on anything. They're all complex, human characters, trying to solve an increasingly batshit set of murders.

I'm excited to see this article! I grew up with Christians like these, my parents' church was a social justice, LGBTQIA+ accepting place. Sadly that congregation lost too many members and closed. I hope that kind of Christian stands up more and keeps doing the work their scripture commands. cnn.com/2023/11/13/us/social-g

(I'm no longer Christian myself, but I have tremendous respect for Christians who believe in actually doing good works for "the least of these.")

@mrk Thank you! I'm really digging the warm welcome I'm getting. :)

@corlin Thanks so much! I'm excited to be here, and the user guide's existence makes my tech writer heart happy. :)

Hello, world! Heard about this site over on Discuit.net and I always sign up with new socials (gotta make sure I get my preferred handle!)

I'm a tech writer by day and a bookbinder by night. I also knit, read, play video games, and watch TV of wildly varying quality with my partner. I'm chronically ill (fibromyalgia and many of its comorbid buddies, plus knee problems). I live in Portland, OR with my partner and our cats.
