A contractor I know says if you're over 50 you should avoid living in a home that separates the bedrooms from the main living area with stairs. He says stairs are fine if you in your 30s but they're not in your favor after 50.

@divisionbyzero 50? Pffft... Ok, maybe 70. Unless maybe you're a gravy seal...

@divisionbyzero

i moved from an apartment to a house at 70. i find stairs a very useful exercise opportunity. i mean, who needs a gym?

my bedroom is on the main floor, so i don't need to do stairs at bedtime, but otherwise, having more room to walk around is actually beneficial.

@divisionbyzero
💯
…and my search for the no-stairs house continues
I can still climb stairs, but not for forever.
One stupid fall & life changes

@divisionbyzero

Plus vacuuming stairs is a right pain in the ass.

@divisionbyzero It's so difficult to find a home without stairs. Two years of looking and we have a home with the bedrooms, kitchen, laundry and living spaces all on one floor, but entry is on a lower level. Once up the stairs, everything is on one level and we love it.
