R.I.P.
Stephen F. Cohen
(Now I agree that Cohen was a very controversial writer and historian. But this book was, and is, very important to understanding the early Revolution, and where it all went wrong.)

This is pretty much where my conservative relatives are at.... I tried to warn them.... Only a couple of the most out of touch. I think we're in pretty good shape because the hardliners are besides themselves like this guy.
(I don't usually like pop songs, yet this one......)
Rachel Croft - Deep Water
These amazing kids. It is their Mom that did all this. She has a degree in early childhood education, but left all that to fall in love with a bad boy. Had two kids, then he went to prison, and they divorced. She works now as manager of a resort, (black butte ranch), not far from our place. She is one of those "been there, done that, twice" kind of woman, that doesn't take any shit.
Yet she knows freedom. and loves fearlessly.
These are her children.
We are just along for the ride.
The most amazing thing about all of this, is that the kids demand fun time. Time to read, and act out stories. Time to laugh and mimic all us older folks. The 12 year old boy is coming out of his shell a bit, to investigate making music. They still disappear into the forest for hours of alone time. But you had better great them as long lost stranger when they return. They decided not to go into town and take school exams this year. They are just writing off school for a year. Mom is also amazing
About the indomitable spirit of kids. The two children up at my place, (12 & 14), have taken the fire, and all the fear in stride. They miss their online friends, but have decided that that until the internet is restored, they are going to be the official organizers of all the shared work. They run the generators, they got all the freezers and refrigerators into the well shed, and are tracking temps. They are running a brisk business doing laundry, by hand. Generally running the place.
I posted this on the twit site.. it's a very good read.
I made a guide for setting up a Pi-hole with Unbound DNS resolver. I tried to include everything you need to start from scratch.

After a long nap.
I am back on my night schedule.
Lets see what book should I begin this night with.....
I know how about a very snarky, science fiction space opera.
New Piano Jazz
Flying Toward the Sound
by Geri Allen
Geri Allen overshadows most pianists in her generation, not by miles, but by worlds. Her latest album, a solo performance, provides such sensitivity and gentile finesse it feels like her hands are gliding over you and through you; surrounds you with technique and style unknown since the high points of McCoy Tyner's and Mary Lou Williams's piano inventiveness and brilliance.
