About the indomitable spirit of kids. The two children up at my place, (12 & 14), have taken the fire, and all the fear in stride. They miss their online friends, but have decided that that until the internet is restored, they are going to be the official organizers of all the shared work. They run the generators, they got all the freezers and refrigerators into the well shed, and are tracking temps. They are running a brisk business doing laundry, by hand. Generally running the place.
These amazing kids. It is their Mom that did all this. She has a degree in early childhood education, but left all that to fall in love with a bad boy. Had two kids, then he went to prison, and they divorced. She works now as manager of a resort, (black butte ranch), not far from our place. She is one of those "been there, done that, twice" kind of woman, that doesn't take any shit.
Yet she knows freedom. and loves fearlessly.
These are her children.
We are just along for the ride.
@corlin
Now THAT will teach them so much more than surfing the Internet for junk!! Bravo kids! Way to be helpful and responsible. I am impressed!
I love it! Sounds like they're handling this all quite well! I bet they're learning things this year that school could never teach. <3
@corlin sound like wonderful young people.
The most amazing thing about all of this, is that the kids demand fun time. Time to read, and act out stories. Time to laugh and mimic all us older folks. The 12 year old boy is coming out of his shell a bit, to investigate making music. They still disappear into the forest for hours of alone time. But you had better great them as long lost stranger when they return. They decided not to go into town and take school exams this year. They are just writing off school for a year. Mom is also amazing
