That’s for a dollar each, not 3 for a dollar.

Going through the grocery store website trying to make my grocery list. They want $3 for a 10 ounce bag of frozen vegetables! I’m definitely old because I can remember getting 4-10 ounce bags for a dollar.

I have to believe, outside of possible health problems, remembering how much cheaper stuff used to be compared to now is the hardest part of getting old.

A friend’s dog has bloat, she has called every vet that’s open around here and no one will touch this case. They say they don’t have the staff to handle it.

I know I’ve been spoiled living in Lansing with MSU vet clinic right there but I can’t believe no one here will touch this case. They tell her to go to Yorkville which is over an hour away. She doesn’t have a car, I offered to drive her to the vet, but I don’t trust my car to get me that far.

I hate this area.

Chilly out there this morning, can feel fall in the air, but that doesn’t mean summer is done with us yet.

Just took Ernie outside and saw all the tree limbs in the road so I picked up the big ones and tossed them onto the shrub pile one of the neighbors started. Much easier than Lansing where you had to break them down into 24” or smaller, then bundle them up with cotton string or twine for the city to pick up. Still not easier than being able to burn them while cooking hot dogs on a stick.

Heh, yeah I stocked up on popsicles and we had a storm this evening that knocked the power out. Been two hours and counting.

Hell has arrived in the Land of Lincoln once again, already too hot to be outside and it’s going to get a lot worse. I stocked up on popsicles for Ernie since he likes to stay out a bit longer than I like which makes his too warm. These cool him down and he likes them. Have the guy who mows my lawn a couple, with a couple bottles of water after he mowed the lawn. Poor guy was soaked with sweat and that was at 9 this morning. I feel for all the lawn guys who have to work in these temps.

Just heard one of my favorite teachers passed away. My freshman English teacher, Mr Vasquez. I’ll never forget the “fights” he and Mr Novak used to have. One time Mr Novak walked into the class just after it had started, ripped everything off the bulletin board by the door and walked out. Mr Vasquez just stood watching him with mouth open. He was a classic.
