It took a while to catch this guy. He was moving pretty fast, and all I could see at first was a flicker of motion out of the corner of my eye. He blends so well into the background. There's a whole family of Brown Thrashers living in one of our intentional brush piles down in the meadow.

This gets me every time… this is the inscription put up by Icelanders to mark the total disappearance of the huge Ok glacier:

Last night, one of the students at the tutoring center where I work said something to me that took me by surprise. This kiddo can be an immature, impulsive, quirky and loud kid. She isn’t the favorite student and many find her too annoying.

She said “You’re a good teacher. You’re nice.”

Why shocked? That was her telling me that she struggles w acceptance. She acts out for attention.

THEN it hit me:
I’m her adult version. I know what she wants bcuz I need it too. Acceptance.

Mind blown.
