This article on the editorial decision not to endorse a presidential candidate also includes a response by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

"We respect the traditional independence of the editorial page, but this decision 12 days out from the 2024 presidential election ignores the Washington Postโ€™s own overwhelming reportorial evidence on the threat Donald poses to democracy."

@sentientdessert The COO ended the company's pension plan. He had to pay those of us who had participated, but he was looking for any excuse to drive out those who were vested so he wouldn't have to pay us for our remaining years. It was awfully conspicuous that these layoffs would have been effective on my 50th and 52nd birthdays.

The first time, I found another job in the company. The second time, I left because the place was miserable. I took the unemployment.

@sentientdessert I got laid off twice on my birthday -- once on my 50th, then two years later on my 52nd. Pretty sure it was age discrimination but couldn't prove it.

@MLClark ... I was writing for licensees and needed the scripts to know how to spell names, terms, etc. Majel gave me a deal.

When I was done, I donated the scripts to local screenwriting class taught by a one-time Star Trek writer.

Lincoln is long out of business. Someone in the thread posted a link to where the DS9 scripts are now online for free. That triggered the writer in question.

Mind you, all this was 30 years ago. Why he's fussing now is beyond me. (2/2)

@MLClark The core issue is that, once upon a time, the Roddenberrys profited from Lincoln Enterprises. Among their schemes was selling photocopies of scripts. The writers were never compensated, presumably because the script belongs to the studio, which licensed Lincoln.

Seems to me the writer's gripe is with the WGA. If it's not covered, it's not covered.

My sin apparently was mentioning that I'd once bought DS9 scripts in bulk from Majel because ... (1/2)

@MLClark Thank you ... My modest little vanity blog already started a fist fight over on Zombie Twitter involving multiple alumni. A writer got mad because someone in the thread posted a link to a site that has archived DS9 scripts. He was mad because he wasn't compensated for his scripts being published. Out of all that came the mistaken notion that I'm publishing Trek scripts, which I'm not. Fingers pointing in all directions. So much for IDIC. :WilLongAndProsper:
