We just had a launch, satellites for the European Space Agency, but the sky is so totally overcast we saw nothing, only heard it.

Oh well, there's another one tomorrow.

The new supercharger station at 8660 Astronaut Blvd. in Cape Canaveral. There are 12 stations; three cars were charging when I arrived, but two quickly left.

has had superchargers for years in the Pad 39A admin building parking lot but, unless you're badged for KSC access, they do you no good. This is the first supercharger station on north Merritt Island. I for one am endlessly delighted.

We have a popup launch this evening, with the window opening at 6:17 PM EDT. Watch live at Spaceflight Now.

"The 2023 records, newly disclosed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, also show that injury rates at some facilities grew worse than those the company had reported in 2022. At its manufacturing-and-launch facility in Brownsville, Texas, for instance, SpaceX reported 5.9 injuries per 100 workers, surpassing its rate of 4.8 injuries in 2022 and topping a space industry average of 0.8."

In retrospect, perhaps the most significant event that day was the visit to at Launch Complex 40. Obama was given a tour by a clearly nervous Elon Musk. Obama committed to reform that would end the government monopoly and open space to competition.

This raw video of the tour was released last year by the Obama Library.

I'm out of town, but the final launch of the Delta IV Heavy is targeting 2:45 PM EDT, from Launch Complex 37. The ULA webcast should start on YouTube around 1:15 PM EDT.

After this launch, is looking at LC-37 for future launches, so this is the last time you'll ever see a launch from LC-37 in its current configuration.
