Another idle thought ... If McCarthy needs the votes to survive as Speaker, would the Democrats consider supporting him in exchange for McCarthy shutting down the impeachment inquiry?

Again, very unlikely. The Dems seem better off letting the clown show go on. But McCarthy has the ammo now to shut it down, citing the committee's own witnesses saying there's no evidence. (2/2)

Idle thought ... If the MAGA House Republicans succeed in removing Speaker McCarthy, technically anyone can be Speaker. It doesn't have to be a House member.

In the past, there was MAGA speculation about naming Trump speaker. Would they try it this time, thinking it might get him out of his prosecutions?
