One of the stupidest jabs (it sure as fuck isn’t any kind of argument, I’ll tell you that much) I’ve seen thrown at Ukraine in general and Zelensky in particular is the whole “but he was a comedian” line of argumentation. Like, ah yes, a comedian, the very worst thing a man can be. He should definitely be ashamed of his past, unlike his opponent, A GODDAMN FORMER KGB AGENT.

A girl at work "pumped" her lips to look like Instagram idols and we've all been poking fun at her in a very mild and friendly way.
Today she was passing down the hall like "Anyone got eye drops?"
I asked "Smatter, a lip got in your eye?" and now she's chasing me around armed with a folding chair 😂

A nation’s literature explains a lot about their ethos. Having taken a few semesters of Russian literature in college, I offer this observation. War, death, poverty, and societal ills loom large, as do themes of unfairness and the inability to overcome “the system” and corrupt bureaucrats. Add in malevolent leaders who revel in torment and death and it suggests that, unless you’re an noble or oligarch, life holds very little for you. There’s nothing left to do but inflict the misery on others.
Young people nowadays upon hearing that I was born in ‘78 are like “is that before or after the Revolution”

I know I talked about this yesterday but TBH this has been, for me, the feel-good story of the last few days…or longer, so I’m gonna share more.
27 yr old Oahu North Shore native, Luke is not a pro surfer. He is a pro lifeguard, at Waimea, the beach where Eddie Aikau become the first official lifeguard. At this event, which has honored Eddie since 1984, Luke was on duty in between his heats. He was literally saving people doing things like this…
