@process There's similar cases in the US as well. Maybe it's because a lot of the folks that would be good in the position are too busy... working (at a real job), so it's the ones from rich families that don't know how to do anything but spend mummy and daddy's allowance that end up running and getting elected? Too many of us are tryin' to make ends meet, and can't be bothered - which is what the politicians are counting on to get elected/re-elected. 😟

@mcfate That was the first thing that came to my mind as well; not a lawyer, so I was going to ask here what could the DNC and Ms. Clinton request copies of during discovery - especially since he specifically made mention of linking his campaign to Russia.

Maybe that's why Manafort was trying to fly to Dubai yesterday?

@Alt_Human ...and yet, we still haven't learned. Wife's immune compromised, so our family's been pretty focused on being safe. Everyone's vaccinated & boosted (except the toddler that doesn't have a booster approved yet). For two years, we were good. Kids went back to school, and each of the teens has had a breakthrough infection this year. And today, we get another one of these... but of course, now they don't know if our kiddos were exposed or not, because there's no more contact tracing.

Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveev, and Sergey Korsakov just entered the International Space Station wearing blue and yellow space onesies. 🇺🇦

This definitely isn't the Dogma group I remember from the mid-90's... but the only other video is one of those 90's era songs. Huh.

@Reincarnation_2 I do believe they are the modern equivalent of Prius and Mercedes drivers from the Beltway inner loop about 7-8 years ago.

@Render From what I saw, was reportedly stale metadata on Cisco's end and was actually an optimization attempt after the Cogent unplug.

@mcfate Oh, no argument there... but they'll be waved around as "our brave boys signed up!" and used as propaganda. Any dissent marks you as an enemy of the state.

We're once again making the mistake of applying western norms to Russia (I was very guilty of this myself, last week, thinking protests in the street of Russia might make a difference), and I'm becoming convinced that's a bad thing - and is causing some like Putin to regard us as weak.

@mcfate I think that's why she mentioned the "contract"; conscripts aren't supposed to be in combat unless they sign a contract.

Of course, it's the West/US/NATO's fault our valiant Russian sons were killed during a perfectly legitimate special military action to liberate our Ukrainian brethren from <something, something, something>

Interesting.

It’s one thing when we armchair Kissingers say Putin needs to be taken out. Quite another when a sitting senator puts it in writing.

@evistre Unfortunately this isn't the 80's, so a lotta shit we did to cope would likely have you going viral in a hot minute...

Hot an' heavy petting was always a good go-to, as I remember. You can probably skip right over the whole Zima thing, though (huh - is "hard seltzer" the modern day equivalent?)

@killagator Huh, almost like letting the Space Shuttle program lapse, and then outsourcing launch capability to Russia was a bad idea after all....

Got some darn good strategic planners, we do.... too bad none of the really good ones are allowed to see the light of day, for fear of pissing off a lobbyist somewhere.

@WeThePeople Some enterprising bloke should offer him 3 billion rubles.

…When your partner orders so much from Amazon, the driver says “F it,” and leaves the entire pre-pull container…

My single item should arrive in a bit, hopefully they’ll grab the empty bin and re-use it. Otherwise, the scrap wood out in the shop might have a new home!!

@jaunty Every time I do that, I end up walking away thinking it's mildly radioactive - typically after finding another CD I burned labelled "Not for use on production networks, for lab use only!"

@corlin I dunno, I rather enjoy filling those out while the coffee brews. For example:

"My experience with the surgeon was overall positive, and I'm happy to report that to date, no surgical instruments or gauze was found to have been left inside after the procedure."
