@mcfate I think that's why she mentioned the "contract"; conscripts aren't supposed to be in combat unless they sign a contract.
Of course, it's the West/US/NATO's fault our valiant Russian sons were killed during a perfectly legitimate special military action to liberate our Ukrainian brethren from <something, something, something>
@mcfate Oh, no argument there... but they'll be waved around as "our brave boys signed up!" and used as propaganda. Any dissent marks you as an enemy of the state.
We're once again making the mistake of applying western norms to Russia (I was very guilty of this myself, last week, thinking protests in the street of Russia might make a difference), and I'm becoming convinced that's a bad thing - and is causing some like Putin to regard us as weak.

When everybody IN the entire state has become your "enemy", you don't have a "state" any more.
I regard Putin as "nearly bankrupt", and you can't fight a war on worthless IOUs.
