I don’t even really watch debates.
Ever since I heard the story of how JFK scored points on one of the earliest televised presidential debates with makeup, which led to watchers liking him more while radio listeners liked Nixon more, I prefer to read everything first, and then approach these big rhetoric events in a limited, cautious way - I find clips where I was unsure of the tone in the transcript, to get a better idea of attitude if I feel I need it.
Also helps me focus on the bits that I feel matter, instead of getting bombarded with pandering and whatnot.
It also helps me only spend what spoons I am comfortable spending on politics. I’ve burnt myself out a couple times, don’t wanna do that shit again.
There seems to be plenty of people into subjective themselves to that kind of torment. I'll await the summations from those brave souls.
What could they possibly say that was of interest? They have no platform, no policies, and the only remotely interesting thing to watch is them dancing around the orange elephant that's not in the room.
