@Mydoggyruss no. It’s still a kind of wheat but it tends to be easier to digest for a lot of people. I’m seeing how it does for me, as wheat gives me skin issues. I’m trying to avoid learning gluten free. Haha.

Homemade pizza and a bowl of soup for dinner.

The pizza has just homegrown cherry tomatoes on it with fresh mozzarella and salt, olive oil, and basil — what they called a Caprese or Vittoria when I was in Sicily.

It’s a 48-hour sourdough crust I made.

@dmcrane well, we have assholes here too — ha. But yeah, once you get on the island, it is a whole other pace. Sounds like you had a heck of a trip! I’m glad.

@dmcrane haha. Yeah! Big difference. Glad you enjoyed it. I live in Victoria. This is just my housesitting locale up around Duncan. :)

@dmcrane well, it’s Vancouver island, not Vancouver, so a very different experience. We have 1 million people on the whole island, so it’s a pretty wild & rugged place. :)

I had a bunch of pics I couldn’t post yesterday, so I’ll share a few more today.

I went for a hike and saw these chonky bois on my drive home. Highland coos! No, not “cows.” They’re coos!

I couldn’t post this yesterday when things were borked here — but this was the from the place where I am housesitting. (Duncan, , on .)

I’ve been here over a month and this will likely be the sunrise I remember most. Just a moody, magnificent moment.

Trying new stuff. I have bad rosacea and have learned lately that wheat triggers it. So, I’m baking with spelt.

Last night I made tasty manchego spelt biscuits and baked some spelt sourdough bread. This morning, I finally tried the bread. If this is good for my skin, it’ll be a game changer. Very stoked.

@NickTheSkydiver and I am getting a lot more traction over there with less work. This place seems to be hung up on bashing a Twitter while the other seems to be just getting on with it. A lot more accounts are going there than here.

@NickTheSkydiver oh. There are no DMs. Mastodon is public and not owned by anyone. This place is. I have some issues with that.

Gotta tell the truth, I’ve been spending more time on Mastodon as I get to know it better.

You can follow me there too.

Follow me, follow me, follow me!

@Annothername not kidding about the Greeks — it’s right next door. Flights would be as little as $15 or so on Ryan Air, but they’d pay a lot to check a bag. Probably buy feta for all the family to make it worthwhile.

Great food culture in Bulgaria tho. And beautiful mountains with neat monasteries.
