It's infuriating that people are playing respectability politics here.

And most of them are totally not conscious they're doing it.

A bunch of people left over this. It has been SUPER super so confusing to try to figure out the entire chain of events.

The end goal for me personally is for people to feel comfortable talking about whatever they need to talk about without being hushed up.

Ideally, if there's a way we can broaden it to make the whole larger world safer and to make fewer murders occur, that would be fantastic, but that's a big lift.

Respectability politics is a new one to me.

Respectability politics is expecting minorities to always be models of "good behavior" and to not express anger. To never be messy or broken. To ask nicely for less bigotry.

And man, SalK wasn't even getting messy or even really angry. She was direct. And she pushed back against some people's liberal ideas of fairness as insufficient.

And rather than think that someone who experiences oppression daily might know better, people got offended.
