The latter demands a review to figure out what went wrong and how it can be avoided in the future. Unfortunately, the industry in general doesn’t think that way. So I figured I’d put it out there in case anyone needed to hear it. :)

Didn’t mean it as one. Just something my boss and I have been discussing lately. People at my company routinely get praised for “putting in the extra effort” working weekends or long hours and it’s largely ignored when your work goes smoothly and stays within the normal work time. I think that’s backwards. A team doing what they do so well that it’s boring and routine is heroic. An individual making a last minute diving save is just narrowly avoiding disaster.

@sentientdessert @Botanic My middle school’s 8th graders used to put on a Gilbert and Sullivan musical each year. I think they rotated through four of them. The Mikado was the year before my class, and my best friend had the part that sings that song, so I still remember it well all these years later. :)

@kel Yes. We have a 2 1/2 year old and if I don’t start cooking right away when I get home from work it won’t be done early enough. I pretty much walk in the door with two questions for my wife:

1) Are you hungry?
2) Do you know what you want?

If it’s not yes to both, I start cooking.

@kel My wife and I have mostly solved that by getting one of those dinner box services. Now if there aren’t any better ideas I just start cooking whatever’s next.
