@TrueBloodNet Oh, c'mon. "Victim"?
I grant your point about spread of true misinformation. Right here I see left-leaning people spreading memes all too quickly for the same reason RW misinformation spreads, it agrees with their priors.
But people who spread rumors, memes, and unverified stories as fact aren't "victims." We all are accountable for what we choose to spread.
P.S. They are both comedians with fairly popular series of bits playing outraged characters.
@thedisasterautist @BenA Still in Oz and V.I. and Guam.
My question is why Oz doesn't have similar issues to U.S. ? Are Target and Walmart (or some local equivalent) not as much of a factor?
@TrueBloodNet I dunno. If you believe something posted by The Onion then I think that is on you.
If you believe one of the recordings by Blaire Eskine or Brent Tehune then that is on you. When the brand is satire, and the topic is enough for you to even question it, then a tiny bit of research is warranted.
Anyway, whether they should have marked it is beside the point. Why would they remove a response saying "Check the bio"?
@Jeber Sleep. But I periodically have to reboot I find.
Something about the automatic updates gets screwed up and leaves it in a weird state.
IG algorithm for policing posts is bizarre. A fake story was posted, by a person advertising they post satire stories.
People are posting "Is this real?" I responded with "check the bio, all will be revealed." A second later I get a message "Your post has been removed."
Huh? (I didn't want to spoil it for others, so I just directed her to where I got the answer.)

@UmbaSaffire @DavidKMresists Vaxxed or not, MOST people recover okay. It is just rolling the dice not to protect yourself as much as possible from hospitalization or long Covid.
Hell, there were DOCTORS prescribing Ivermectin to patients after it was proven ineffective. All their patients recovered so they claimed success. (All of them would have recovered without it as well.)
Maybe some of them had scabies as well and it helped that.
@UmbaSaffire @DavidKMresists Yeah, some people even have completely different symptoms, though most seem to develop like a cold.
The difference with flu was flu hit all at once. Covid gave me a false sense of confidence coming on gradually. At first, it really was just like a cold. But it ramped up.
My problem with generalization is anti-vax people use it as well. "I had it and it wasn't too bad so everyone else is just blowing it our of proportion."
@DavidKMresists @UmbaSaffire I couldn't take Paxlovid because of a drug interaction with another prescription. Wife took it and her symptoms ran their course in about three days.
Mine lasted over a week and included the worst sore throat ever experienced.
My vax reaction has varied. Some, just a sore arm, the latest felt like a mild flu the following day. Second shot was worst, flu symptoms for two days - chills, aches. I figure Covid unprotected would be worse for me though.
@DavidKMresists @UmbaSaffire Nah.
I was vaccinated and it was hell, worse than the flu.
You can't generalize any one person's experience. Some were completely asymptomatic even with the first strain and unvaccinated Others were hospitalized and died.
Vaccines seem to protect from the worst outcomes, but they are always at least one strain behind with vax. So they aren't as protective as we'd like.
@amarand I find shows I like on Netflix and Prime and Apple are dominated by British actors. Not sure if those are "British" shows. Wheel of Time, Outlaws, Slow Horses for example.
@amarand They both "generally suck". Your perception is skewed by selectivity of the British TV that gets exposure.
Spend time in U.K. watching everything broadcast. Lotta crap there, too. Reality shows, game shows, low grade documentary shows (all cheaper than scripted shows.)
On balance, if constrained to broadcast, more variety in U.S. Most is crap, but more volume means more good as well on any given night.
Arguably the "best" British shows may be better than the "best" U.S. though
@matuzalem @elbutterfield Freudian typo? Or on purpose?
