They just hope enough of the country isn't paying close attention and can be won over by ploys like "no tax on tips" or "no tax on overtime."
What about a better minimum wage so they don't need overtime or tips to survive? What about a fair tax strategy that lowers taxes for middle class and poor and pays for it with fair taxation of ultra-rich?

@Bix @LnzyHou The good news is they are that unsure of themselves in TEXAS to win without cheating. TX is growing and almost all of that growth works against them. The cities are growing; the desolate West Texas lands of wind farms and coyote obstacle course where no one lives remains solid Pub territory.

In TX, shenanigans are afoot in new rules making it easier to turn over results they don't like and even one to thwart statewide popular vote races undermining votes from major cities where Pubs lose.
Honestly, these state rules/laws that lock in power should be unlawful in a country with a functional SCOTUS and a Congress that can pass a voting rights bill.
No governing body should be able to prevent the current party in power from losing power.

There was a good segment on the history of anti-vax on CBS Sunday Morning. Brief, but they traced it all the way to reluctance (understandable) to take the original smallpox inoculation. (It involved cutting you and smearing ground up scabs, etc. In wound. And everybody got sick, ans some even died.) But it was still better than your odds if you actually got smallpox.
Ben Franklin regretted not getting it for his grandson in fear of it. But he got smallpox and died.
