@process if I had a cough and fever, they might not dock me sick days. I have had GI symptoms which may or may not be COVID. I took one day, to keep co-workers safe. They docked me one of my last sick days. That’s potentially COVID. They don’t care. I wear a mask. I pray that it’s something else. Likely it is, but I don’t know for sure.

@process it is crazy. But I work for a unit of local government, in an area with about 50% Trumpists. So, essential workers are expendable.

Good morning CoSoNauts. Woke up with a migraine. Ugh. But got the critters fed and am getting ready to go to Plague Central (work) and try not to get infected.

3 confirmed positive there in the past 2 weeks. It has been 10 days since my test and still no results.

We can take off work with pay if we test positive. Being safe without that costs sick days I don’t have.

If you want a horse and don’t have a lot of money to pay to board it somewhere, you move to a rural area and buy a cheap bit of land with an old house and a barn for the horse. And then, with that land, and all that abundant grass, you start raising... lots of different critters! 😆

Pro tip: if you do not fancy raising your own meat, do NOT buy “straight run” which is supposed to be “as hatched” and about 50/50 male female on average, but instead tends to be more male because of the next option. You want to buy “pullets” which are females. They pay someone to peek at their newly hatched chicks’ vents (Chicken private parts) to figure out which are female. Their accuracy on that is usually in the high 90*s%.

@Minholkin I have had chickens for many, many years, including when the family was young. Raising livestock (and a garden) is a good way for children to learn where food comes from. Also helps them learn responsibility.

I am so glad that many urban areas are allowing chickens now. Eggs go in and out of medical fashion, but they are a good source of vitamins and protein.

So, yes, get chickens! 👍🐔

One thing I love about summers in Illinois is that while it may get hot and humid later today, right now it is lovely outside and we have windows and doors open, enjoying the morning fresh air while we have breakfast.

Air conditioning is needed here for comfort, but not 24/7.

And I prefer listening to songbirds than a droning air conditioning system.

Composting will do that, as will chickens. Our chickens get all kitchen waste. When I told that to my Mom years ago, she asked with some alarm, “then what will you do for compost in your garden?!” I replied that I compost the chicken litter and use that, so I basically run the kitchen scraps through the chickens first, before composting. 😆😂🤣

I was about to say good morning when I saw my post from yesterday. My iPad’s autocorrect is a PIA. if I type “too” it is apt to switch it to “to.”

It will often also randomly change words like “saw” to “was,” which I caught in this post prior to posting. 🤬

It’s only going to give a false sense of security to some folks who rely on their phones for everything.

- 3 people at work have tested positive in the past 11 days,
- I am still awaiting my test results from 7 days ago,
- “essential” workers are also EXPENDABLE.

I don’t think it could make me any safer.
