I would hope that somewhere behind closed doors folks in authority are trying like hell to unravel the clusterfuck of it all just to save their own skins. If people are delusional enough to think that the rabid calls for violent spectacle would be ignored by the orange usurper they have another thing coming. They want to see the guns that were promised in Liz Cheney’s face. They want to have public executions of any of the folks who tried to warn us. The usurper will be the obliging showman.

Kiddo puked on the bus this morning (she has bouts of carsickness,) but of course as soon as she got to school we had to go get her. And naturally she had no fever nor did she get sick again at all for the rest of the day. So she got a long weekend. And I had a reason to not watch a lick of shitty news and instead watch the Muppets and The Naughty Nine (Ocean’s Eleven but with tweens and Santa) on Disney+. Not a bad day overall.

So I read an article the other day, the one @nursefrombirth posted from TeenVogue about online misogyny going off the fucking rails.

The article kept using the word “manosphere” to refer to those who subscribe to toxic masculinity and hyper machismo. The more I read that word the more it became clear that “manosphere” is a self-own.

“Mano” as in hand. As in the only thing they will have left since they hate women so much.

Jesus would wear a mask to save lives even when it was no longer mandated.
Jesus would fight for children to get no questions asked free lunches and probably breakfasts too.
Jesus would be marching in Pride parades and he would agree that Black Lives Matter.
Jesus would wish his neighbors “Happy Holidays” because he appreciates their diversity.
Jesus would clothe, feed, and shelter the homeless, not make them illegal.
Jesus would fight/preach against corporate greed.

I left Catholicism circa 2017 but here’s what I know and believe, despite now choosing to loosely subscribe to the religion of my husband:

Jesus would drive someone across state borders for life-saving care, even if it meant criminal prosecution.
Jesus would be manning the refreshments table at drag queen story time at a public library.
Jesus would be leaving water and food caches for migrants along the border.
Jesus would be the founder and OG promoter of Woke.

Hospital put out new cold/flu season signage and an article on the intranet and public website.
Though the signs feature a big face with a mask on it the fine print says mask up “if you’re not feeling well.” 🙄 Then, buried many paragraphs deep in the article (several sentences after people have stopped reading) on how to protect yourself this season the phrase, “Ideally we should all be wearing masks for prevention…”
Imagine if we had all just been fine with doing what was best from the jump.

Those of us who are calm and largely unflappable are becoming short with those who are panicking and anxious as fuck just as the latter is shook by the former.

We’re all just trying to process the blow. We’re all doing our best whether it’s panic and planning or breathing and tuning out.

It’s still fresh and we all have various reasons for why we react the way that we have.
