I pulled the plug on the bath and there was instantaneous screams of agony… from the “mermaid bath toys.”
“NOOOOO HOW WILL WE EVEN SURVIIIIIIIIIIVE?!”
“I CAN’T EVEN BREATHE AIR, GIANT LADY!!! YOU MIGHT AS WELL DROP US IN A VOLCANO!”

“They” continued to gasp and flop and call me a giant lady villain until every drop of water went down the drain.

Doctor prescribes inhaler for kid.
Mom asks for one to send to school.
Doctor gives extra one for school.
Mom calls school.
School needs forms. School emails forms to mom.
Mom sends forms to doctors office the very same hour.
Doctor’s office replies the very same hour… that it will take 7-10 business days.

7 have passed. Looking more like 10.

So I’m stressed for the second Phys. Ed day in a row and glad it’s looking like indoor recess. 😤

It was so dark that all our solar lights came on and we heard some confused bird calls. Also everyone in the neighborhood whooping and howling. It was incredible. 6yo was so excited albeit aggressively anxious about her glasses being held firmly in place. During the totality she joined in the howling and cheering and ooh-ing and aww-ing. She wants to keep the glasses for the next eclipse. 😂 that’s a ways away.

Photos don’t do it justice but we were able to see with our eyes a bright red spot (solar flare?) at about 7 o’clock.

I downloaded my digital library loan before heading off to work. Finished it just a few minutes ago. Highly recommend! It was strongly reminiscent of Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun in all the best ways.

From middle-high school one or more students did that for a science fair project every single year. Testing multiplication to the pop hits of that year. It was humiliating. Every. Single. Year. 😒

Oh and they’re all singing along. Badly. My day has gone from pleasant to unbearable.

The amount of resentment I currently feel for the nurses who decided en masse to play a “Disney Hits” playlist, and not quietly, is like a 7/10. I get it that they need motivation or a mood boost, but I cannot think, read, or compute to music with lyrics. Especially lyrics I recognize. My brain tunes into only that. Reading comprehension plummets, conversation is halting, mathematics are impossible.

Does listening to music while performing mental tasks improve or worsen your ability to focus on the task?

Every now and then my sister will ask me to recommend her a book/series and I don’t even think she knows how awesome that makes me feel. 🥹

Also, I feel like she should know better than to ask me by now, because she asks for titles and I give her a doctoral thesis about each.

I submitted my first ever “first to cancel” request for work tomorrow… (hospital is actually over-staffed for people in my position for the first time in forever, thanks to the PRN folks trying to get their required hours in before the schedule period ends.) I would just LOVE to get a call at 5:00 am telling me not to come to work. 🤞🏻
