@Novels56 I mean… I have beef with my state too… but are we now The-State-which-must-not-be-named? You-know-where?

@InvaderGzim and Evermore is one of the most beautiful songs. It’s between Evermore and Wild Uncharted Waters from The Little Mermaid…

Walking the razor’s edge when it comes to encouraging my kid to be jazzed for her first day of school and trying to be super chill and nonchalant about it so the monster doesn’t cripple her brave resolve to try the school bus.

@InvaderGzim I also love the live action Beauty and the Beast. I appreciate the extra depth. And Kevin Kline gave Maurice more dignity.

I just finished ACOTAR, at the request of a bookish friend. While I enjoyed it, I don’t think it was really as earth-shaking or 🌶️ as people hype it up to be.

So I always hang my bra on the top dresser drawer knob before I go to bed (because I’m an evening showerer but this is beside the point.) My husband folds laundry and puts it away in the evenings-nights. (This is to the point.) Every time he comes up to the bedroom to put away the laundry he’s stymied by the bra which effectively locks all four drawers. We just now realized that I’ve literally been booby-trapping the dresser for almost 9 years. 🤣

We had a good laugh.

🤣 Booby.

These same forms that I decided I would save myself stress over and have them completed the day after school let out for the summer, for the upcoming school year.

No good deed goes unpunished.

My award winning, record-breaking (for 2024) tension headache would like to thank my child’s asthma clinic nurse for making it possible.

I’ve spent the last two hours calling between the asthma clinic and the school clinic because there's an error on the inhaler forms. The former thinks the latter can’t read. The latter is reading just fine. The clinic failed to scan the newly completed forms and don’t believe in their own error. But there it is. 😳🤬

Mini-golf and massive candy warehouse outing for the last Friday before school starts.

Makes me think about the whole thing where if a Dad is at the grocery store with a child who is absolutely melting down, “Wow, what an amazing father.” A couple aisles over a mom is going through the same thing, “Can’t you control your own kid?”

I asked my child today, “Why, on days I work, do you let Daddy sleep in until 9 when on days I am home you wake me up no later than 6:45?”

The answer? “Because Daddy is tired. He works hard and makes you your lunch for work.”

Cool… yeah.

😳😭

A big stressor for Kiddo at Meet the Teacher was finding out her crush is in her first grade class too, and whether or not her dad and I would spill the beans to her teacher about that. (We would never!)

@SmirkingRaven thanks. And good luck to you too. I appreciate you sharing your experience—it’s a rough path. Knowing we’re not alone makes it easier. Though still sorry either of us need to stumble along said path.

Heading to meet the teacher in about an hour. Kiddo was so stressed about who would be in her class this year that she knew from kindergarten. Fortunately the mom of her bestie from kindergarten texted that they are in the same class. Perhaps one less overwhelming worry for her little mind to contend with. This might be the clincher for getting her riding the bus, knowing her bestie will be on the same one.

Good morning, CoSo. Time to get a coffee and see what Thursday has to say.

New comic! Wherein the boys break down some emotional Walz.

I loved Dana Nessel, Attorney General of Michigan.

You can pry this wedding band away from my cold, dead, gay hands."
