Generally, William is the photographer in the family, but sometimes #ElizebethSmithFriedman is; the photos are from the late 1940s in Rock Creek Park outside Washington, D.C.

Good morning.
A nice start to the day; chilly morning, but warming a bit. Rain begins about the time school lets out, of course, and gets heavier as night falls. Expecting 1.5", on ground already saturated so water on roads and streams jumping banks.
I am driving to PA in the middle of it. Yay.
That's the weather report from the Blue Ridge, oldest mountains in the U.S.
Happy Friday, and make it a great day!
headline you thought you would only see in an Orwell novel:

Cold, grey and damp
There are geese calling
On the soaking meadow
Low cloud is hushing the hills.
Northeasterly air
moves over the moor
Pulling softly at the mist
Tearing it quietly,
like soft cotton pulled apart
A whisper of blue
Through a break in the cloud
A hint of rose
on the edge of the tear
And lightness threatens to arrive

Having grown up as the son of a librarian, I'm used to "burn notices" on videos. Videos would have an expiration date, and after that date the librarian was supposed to destroy the content. We would use a large degaussing unit to wipe the content from the videotapes. Video content has always had a planned expiration date, but streaming just made it more visible to more folks.

In contrast to other social media sites, CoSo fosters hope--and you know what else CoSo promotes? Agency. A lot of people that I encounter here are inclined to DO something to make the world better--not just opine online about it.
Support, encouragement, empathy, and good feelings energize folks for change.
Thank you to all of the folks who are part of this community, working toward the greater good.
And many thanks to @th3j35t3r for his vision and initiative.

"There is nothing romantic, dramatic, or satisfying in modern conflict. It is all horrible, profoundly depressing; and now it carries with it a dreadful threat to civil populations."

Good morning, and hold on to your hat!
The winds have been roaring all night, and when you live surrounded by acres of trees wind is loud.
Continued 40+ mph gusts this morning. In the 20s F outside, with a high in the mid-40s F, so its chilly. Streams and creeks are high with low-lying areas flooded. Many school districts are delayed so buses and students aren't out in the dark.
That's your report from the Blue Ridge, oldest mountains in the U.S. Have a very blustery day, as Pooh would say!
