Broken rib still so painful 8 mos. after accident, doc ordered new x-rays, different view. It's not one but four broken ribs. Now I don't feel so bad about fussing that I still hurt.
Ready for these pains in the side to be healed.
@CinnamonGirlE
Promise I am. It's hard to be patient; so much it still hurts to do. I am progressing on the knitting front though.
@MelissaHDavis
It's good you have something to occupy your hands and mind while sidelined. Probably one of the hardest parts when you are used to being busy. I also had costochondritis one winter. It seemed it took a year to heal. That is just an unfortunate area to have injured.
@CinnamonGirlE
Oh, that sounds awful! Ribs are not something we think about until they are not OK. They protect so much, though.
@MelissaHDavis no fun. Sorry you are in such pain.
@Ellomumsy
Really am lucky that was all that was broken; it was a bad accident. I have a taste of what chronic pain is, I think, and greater compassion for those who suffer.
Learning comes from every situation, doesn't it?
@MelissaHDavis it does! I like your attitude about seeing the blessings in the midst of your ordeal.
@Ellomumsy
I try to find the blessings; it makes the ordeal less of one.
@MelissaHDavis I broke 3 once, coughs and sneezes are an adventure. Rib fractures are often hair thin and the nature of the ribs and overlaps due to radiographic position causes a lot of shadows making missing a fracture more possible. The good news is they don't do anything about said fractures for the most part anyway, I hope you feel better soon. ☮️
@MidnightRider
Oh, I hope so. "Ev'ry breath you take, ev'ry move you make, I'll be hurting you" is my theme song.
@MelissaHDavis Ha, I remember that, cheer up! Once healed you never think about them again. Unlike the other fractures in my body my rib fractures display no evidence of arthritis.
@MidnightRider
This is good to know; my hubby the ex-airborne soldier has enough arthritis for both of us!
@MelissaHDavis Oh dear. Sorry to hear that. I broke my ankle in 9th grade and it took 3 doctors to determine from the X-ray that it was a break and not a sprain. You just keep your mind off of the pain like you're doing and one day it will be gone. 😉
@danielbsmith
Thank you. I keep thinking "This, too, shall pass." Impatient for that day, I admit.
@MelissaHDavis
Sorry to hear that. I have had one and it was painful. I can't imagine four! I know they take a while to heal. Take good care of your self. Feel better soon.
