This house in Huntington, IN, was the childhood home of . Born Clara Elizebeth, she had 9 siblings & was the youngest.
Her father, John, was a Civil War veteran from a Quaker family. Her mother, Sopha, encouraged Elizebeth to think for herself.
You can see what is either an addition or more likely a sleeping porch on the left. The house was razed when the farm left the family in the last few years.

Good morning! It's cold and windy -- in the mid-twenties now and headed for just about freezing as a high.
It dusted some more snow overnight. Our driveway is still all ice and getting down to the garage should be an Olympic event. Seriously considering working from home.
Gonna make it a great day anyway; it is Friday!
Be careful and stay warm.

Will it snow a little tonight? Or not? Won't know 'til sunrise, and I hope to see a couple more inches of cold fluffy white stuff.

My driveway is long, steep, twisty, and shaded, so it only takes a few inches of snow to turn it into a downhill skating rink.
I park at the garage and hike the rest of the way up to my house.
I still love our rural refuge.

It's wicked cold, and I'm glad for my warm home.

Low in the 20s tonight with a dusting of snow.
Stay warm and safe.

I replaced my rooster with a duck.
Now I wake up at the quack of dawn.

Our Alpha, the ruler of our pack and our collective heart, is six years old today. Although all our fur babies are rescues, we have exact birthdates on her and one other dog. That is a major reason for So I am off to make a cake from a mix that is doggo compatible (no chocolate, no diet nothing) for our lunch today. Good frigid morning!
My rhododendron is sensitive to cold temps and this morning it is displaying "wicked cold."
It's 7 F, feels like -9, and the air freezes in your nose. High today is 28 F but the wind chill will feel like the teens.
Stay home, or bundle up and stay safe.
That's your weather report from the Blue Ridge, oldest mountains in the U.S.
I am going to use coals to get the wood stove started again.

Poor JackJack. His radar domes are broke; he has a vet appointment to check his hearing Thursday.

Shipped another batch of homemade gingerbread cookies to my 98-year-old mother in Massachusetts. Her senses of sight and hearing are failing but sense of smell and taste are still going strong. Her mother used to make these for us and I never dared to try replicating them until my mom requested that I try last year. Ever since, Iโ€™ve been churning them out six dozen at a time every few months.
