This is the face of a mother, a sister, a daughter, a cousin & a friend.
The face of a woman who is always tired, but always tries.
The face of mental illness & wellness and psychological warfare from within.
This is the face of trauma & survival.
It's my face & I love it.
Full disclosure: on my journey I have needed help more times than I can count, but I am happy to say, I'm reaching again and tomorrow I start CBT.
I can hardly wait to see what the future holds for me; I feel it is good.
And here we are; week 5 of CBT complete and this coming week will be the most difficult yet, but most fulfilling, I can tell. I am being challenged to step out of myself to get back to some of the things I love & want to try. Writing, journaling, yoga & impromptu dance parties in the livingroom...
I forgot to update on my journey. I completed my CBT course and came out the other side better for it, but still struggling with some things.
I took Anger Management (Options To Anger) a second time, and that helped me even further.
Of course I still have some soul searching to do, but I think that's what life is all about; living, learning and loving. And forgiving (starting with the self).
@Jax_Wild_4_Life Thank You for sharing and good luck on your Journey.
When your thought patterns change, your whole life will start to change.
@RandomUsr thank you so much! And I have also found that to be true from personal experience- my problem is my recovery is like peeling back the layers of an onion, and sometimes I have to start over again. Kinda like it comes in waves... the trick with changing the thoughts, is to catch it when they start to turn back or stay consistent. I feel good about this.
@Jax_Wild_4_Life Let that be the road to empower you.
For me, I found hope in recognizing how I felt and setting boundaries and sticking to them.
I might suggest to be mindful of the little things. Peel the layers back one at a time and smile each time you notice a step forward.
@RandomUsr OMG!!! You are so right! Boundaries are extremely important and need to be set for individual health, but also healthy relationships! I am a firm believer in the benefits! Only those seeking to control don't like boundaries.
Mindfulness is something I also value, but still struggle with, so I am hoping CBT helps me with that.
I found peace with Eckhart Tolle

@Periwinkle thank you for sharing! I might check that out tonight. So far, CBT is woeking too, but it's one of those things that only works if you work it ... positive vibes your way ๐๐๐

Week 2, session 2 of CBT 10 week program complete.
I felt really good about my session yesterday. It was hugely beneficial, relaxing and informative. I gained some more insight on myself and how to better cope, I unlocked more tools within and I was refreshed on techniques I already know, but haven't used in a while.
I feel blessed & hopeful. CBT has homework every week, so it's a practical therapy providing practical solutions to real & percieved problems.
Can hardly wait for what's next
