I make cookies for my favorite mail carrier who is working 14-hour days in an area of the country where the perceived temperature is often 115° plus in vehicle with no AC (a letter carrier died about 10 days ago as a result of heatstroke).

I can't give him anything that will melt, so this batch was oatmeal, raisin and hazelnut. I found out I'd need a lot more hazelnut to make a dent in the flavor. Oh, well.

Any recipes for tasty cookies that won't melt during this time of year?

I am an avid reader who writes UF.

I've recently been reading "Heaven and Hell, a History of the Afterlife" by theologian Bart D. Ehrman who is now an agnostic.

Pagan, Jewish, Christian analysis. I recommended this book to another #writingcommunity to find interesting nuggets.

My brother used to attend Ehrman's lectures in Chapel Hill, NC where he still teachers. It's how I discovered this author.

#WritingCommunity I was on tap to present a writing class today at the library. And I was multitasking. I managed to get part of my multitasking done, unfortunately it was NOT the part involved with my teaching. )This is a weekly class.) I ended up leaving virtually everything involved in the writing class at home. I”It’s a good thing that I am not bothered by extemporaneous speaking, although it was nothing like a normal class we would have.

#politics I admit to a certain fascination about what attorney in Florida will be willing to commit career suicide by representing the former guy today. In lawyer circles that I sometimes tap into as a retiree, it sounds like everybody is terrified of getting near him. Lawyers are saying that their wives would divorce them, and their children would never speak to them again. Some of them would lose partnerships at law firms. He’s radioactive.

We now understand how dangerous insurrectionists are and the problem is that there are so many of these loons that the FBI can't track them all.

There are only 35k people who work for the FBI including support staff.

I doubt my .50 caliber paintball gun would be of much defensive use.

#WritingCommunity every once in a while the people at the sporting good store give me weird looks. Hand held, miniature, crossbows, recently it’s been a paintball pistol. I don’t have the money to be able to figure out how to buy a bastard sword. It’s kind of funny that in Texas I could walk around looking like a commando with real firearms but when you start going into middle earth sort of weapons, they get concerned about you. 🤣 I need to find some local SCA people.

I'm such a hermit I wonder how on earth I picked up a stomach bug that laid me low for days.

Stuff is still out there, folks. Not just Covid.

VEXIS - it's a fiber optic internet provider coming to the area. Anyone know anything about it?

The only high speed provider here since 2015 is Suddenlink. Now Optimum. It's a huge PITA to deal with.

Any insights?

Why it is I can easily turn out 5k words a day when I get in the flow and then spend half a day tearing my hair out writing (1) a 2 sentence log line (2) 160 words for the back cover and (3) a 200 word blurb?

I'm thankful I picked up a lot of ideas from the professional from the UK I hired for my last book.

I don't have a problem with compression, it's the jazzy marketing. I didn't do well in marketing class in webmaster school.

This is a newish TRADITIONAL publishing company who is accepting submissions for diverse (GBLTQ+) material.
