@RationalLeft Truth. I think plenty in the GOP are too law-and-order to actually entertain the idea of defunding the institutions that uphold it in the US.

Also, MTG is a few sandwiches short a picnic.

I haven't given up on the DOJ investigation or the possibility of criminal charges on a federal level for TFG & his cohorts. I see a lot of cynicism about it, & I understand that: justice is hellaciously slow, & men in power are rarely brought to justice for their crimes.

I don't think it's time to give up yet. Garland & Smith are good people with a strong loyalty to the law. Give 'em time.

So Smith will have what he needs to continue to do his job.

Just 3 episodes to it so far, it started a few weeks ago. Very informative about the process.

Good news: the incoming GOP Congress cannot defund the Special Counsel. They don't have control over how the counsel is funded.

Oh cool, I hear DOJ is already on the case & has been doing a criminal investigation already. All they need to do is take the evidence from the Congressional Committee & add it to their own.

That makes me feel way better.

Skepticism of the DOJ is based on one thing: Ignorance.

Garland runs a tight, leak-free ship. Some people have taken this lack of visibility into ongoing criminal investigations to conclude that he isn't doing his job. That's a stupid, unfounded conclusion, and one that directly helps the insurrectionists who are sowing doubt in the process.

The January 6 committee has done literally everything they can possibly do, and they did it before the republicans could take the house.
Hats off to them!! 👏🏻 👏🏻
What an amazing job they all did.

& that includes doing justice for whoever it is you're investigating: for if you are not thorough & fair & proper, then it becomes a persecution instead of a prosecution.

An investigation *must* be thorough in order to stick, if you will - in order to be right, & correct, & procedurally sound. You have to get it right the first time. There aren't any second chances.

& with something of this magnitude, there are mountains of evidence to deal with. It takes a long time. It has to.

It can be aggravating to see how slowly the gears of justice work, how long investigations & hearings & processes take. I want to see Trump & his ilk behind bars NOW.

But this isn't how it works. The gears *must* turn slowly, for they must grind finely.

Whoaaaaaaa - sanction of Congress ppl for failing to respond to subpoenas?? OK who's that?

OK who's the really serious-looking blond guy behind Raskin who keeps nodding sagely?

I seriously hope anyone who sided with or supported TFG is having kittens right about now.

Here we go, setting the framework for referring prosecution...

I thought she'd turned into a lich already. Shows you what *I* know...

@RetiredLEexec I know, it's pretty weird. I can't stand the man for his politics & general sliminess, & I also can't imagine wishing brutal violence on him, ever.

Same with any of the members of Congress, or their staff & aides. It would've been unimaginably brutal.

Diehard Trump supporters are not good, gentle people.
