A great understanding has been reached in my household. Green wires go on the green tree. Whether they are multicolored, twinkley, or white is secondary.

"This is the way" has now been uttered by everyone in the house far too many times while decorating for Solstice this year. πŸŽ„

For Heather. Gone far too soon. Queen of my heart, I don't know how to exist in the world without you being in it. I wish that I could've stopped you. I wish I could've said goodbye, but thousands of miles are cruel. You deserved a break from the fight, but not like this. You were the most intelligent, creative, and fiercest fighter and person I've ever known.

Rest in Power my love.

yes CoSo Peeps, it's that time of year when packages abound & deliveries are everywhere....as are the Porch Pirates. So, here's something to make you smile because there IS divine justice out there! πŸŽ„ βš–οΈ

Dear Medicals:

If I go to the ER, and observe ppe protocols [outerwear removed afterwards in the parking lot, mask, goggles, gloves, hair covered, immediate shower once back home] would I then need to self-isolate for 14 days?

I've been unsuccessful over the past 3 days in my quest to find somewhere local that is equipped to test/vaccinate me for an extremely low risk possible rabies exposure.

I [+2 of my most beloved family who I live with] am extremely high-risk if exposed to COVID-19.

Finally on that good Yultide vibe. πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ„β„ Fresh baked loaf of cranberry bread almost finished, two trays of cookies ready to go in.

@GeorgeG No worries - I'm still getting tested. The data helped me understand why the system here is set up so inefficiently.

Ha! There hasn't been a case of rabies in the species that nipped me in 30+ years. πŸ˜ƒ (I'm not stitching on my furry friends, because I know what that would result in.)

Additional: no fever, no sign of any infection at the site.

I'm slamming my head against the wall right now.

Additional: the animal that bit me is not one of the species that is known to carry rabies in my state.

My moral and ethical code is clear: no ER, as the risk to two others is absolutely unacceptable.

I don't understand why they can't ship it to my doc, or do the injection outside. The area I'm in has extremely high COVID-19 community spread. I don't know if we even have a single ICU bed left.

So I'm in a bit of a bind. I need the rabies vaccine. 4 shots over 2 weeks. I'm being required to go inside an ER to do so, because I guess no one else is capable of a simple muscular injection into my arm? If I catch COVID-19 I and two members of my family will die.

Called the ERs. They will not do the injections outside. I'm having to choose between possibly dying from rabies, or possibly dying from COVID-19 (which includes two loved ones likely catching it from me and also dying).

Ideas?

And yes, before anyone asks: I cleaned and dressed the wound and surrounding tissue including an antibiotic cream. And yes, I have let my doctor know.

I accidentally got nipped by a racoon. We surprised each other. 🀣 I've watched the little one grow up since they were a bump in their mum's belly. It was worried we weren't friends anymore.

Note to self: never assume someone isn't about to take a bite of food on the floor when it's right next to the place where the raccoons occasionally nap.

It's so much better here than on lessor social platforms.

@LinaPinguina thank you. πŸ’• It's the speed of the treadle that freaks me out. I've actually considered buying an old foot-powered Singer.

Hmm. If I do overcome my fear of the electric machine, I could add a nice embroidered over-cuff. πŸ€”

I'm almost done knitting my 1st Fair Isle Yule stocking! Just finishing up the toe with a kitchner graft, and then blocking to do. I'm considering lining it with red felt, just to keep the running strands from getting snagged.

...but I'd have to sew it. I do knitting and needlepoint in order to *avoid* sewing. I'm cool with hand sewing, but the lining would work best on my sewing machine, with a few hand stitches to anchor it. [am I weirdly afraid of electric sewing machines? yes. yes I am.]

And yes - they agreed to do so weeks ago. And yes - they're grown-ass adults.

In my defense, the Yule Tree is *still* outside because certain people didn't move the necessary furniture, nor did they do the pre-vacuuming. Both things are required before bringing the tree inside.

They've literally had weeks. It's why I finally went and got the tree yesterday. 🀬

I guess this is my official holiday ranting thread.
