@Render @corlin @peeppeepcircus And elections aren't only about politics. You have to report on the governing that has been done and the governing that needs to be done or you haven't done the job. You can't report on political POVs and omit reporting on the candidates' ability to govern or you're servicing politics and ignoring government. The whole point of the press clause of the 1st amendment is to provide for reporting to the people about the government, pointless if they refuse to do so

@Render @corlin @peeppeepcircus Yes! This! Somewhere along the way the press and much of the people bought into the idea that government was politics. Its not. Politics is about bringing different points of view together to govern. Government is about addressing issues collectively that cannot be effectively managed individually. The press reports on politics and thinks they've covered both beats. You report politics by reporting the POVs. But you can't report on government w/o objective truths

Goddamn 😑 As I've been getting deeper into patching together my family history there are a couple branches of the family tree that dead-end. On my mother's side that happens in the 1810's in Ysleta, TX. On Dad's side it's about the same time in San Elizario, TX. Not knowing the area it took some study to find this is basically the same region around El Paso. And all area controlled in New Spain, about to become Mexico, and basically the land of the Tigua Pueblo.

COSO has always stuck with it's roots & it shows. If you aren't smart enough to figure it out, you'll weed yourself out.

Picked up two 2900lb pumps today. When I arrived at the shop one of them was leaking oil profusely. I alerted the chain of command who are largely in meetings today.

Later our most experienced outside sales guy comes into the shop. Took one look at the pump and said don't worry about it. That model has a grease frame, not oil. Nobody knows why that much cutting oil was left in a pump, but it isn't likely a defect.

While Day of Remembrance is officially about those we've lost through direct violence, I choose to expand it.

We lose many more Trans people (and other groups) to indirect violence - suicide. Those who choose this option aren't doing so because the world is all sunshine and flowers. Their world and hope has been whittled away until they see no other option but to sleep forever.
